Bare Escentuals Vs. Bare Minerals

Is there a freaking difference?

I've never used it but I always see it at Sephora. I think it's the same line.

i saw it at sephora too and then i saw the infomerical for bare minerals, they are prices about the same and look exactly the same, but i was wondering if one is a knock-off.

They are the same. Bare Escentuals is the brand name and Bare Minerals is basically the main product. They have BareVitamins and other Bare products. It's the brand I use.

Do they really cover up blemishes well?

Extremely well. I never would've thought a powder could do what Bare Minerals does.

But is it noticeable? I mean, can people tell you're wearing make-up. You're supposed to look like you're not, but you never know. I'm a guy and I have a few blemishes, so that's why I'm asking.

BTW: Are you a spokesperson for the product? :)

Haha, no I'm not a spokesperson, I just use it =) If you want to use it as a concealer, and you buy the right shade, and you apply it the right way, I really don't think it'd be noticeable at all.

They have concealers, but you might just wanna buy a foundation. It would work fine for what you need, and concealers have a yellowish tint, so they're noticeable if you don't put foundation over them.

So which is it: foundation or concealer? (I have to admit, I don't know the difference.)

It's basically crushed minerals in a very fine powder form. I don't use the concealer because you can use the foundation as one. The concealer has more of a yellow tint because most blemishes have a red tint and the two balance each other out. You put primer on first, then the concealer if you use it, then apply the foundation, then the mineral veil and then warmth if you want. It really is an amazing product.

Wow. All that won't cake your face?

No, because it's all poweder instead of liquids. Actually, the primer is a liguid, but it's just like a moisturizer. It doesn't cake at all. You are just using the tiniest amounts of each. To conceal, you just use a tiny brush to brush the powder directly over any blemishes like you would with a norman concealer. It amazes me.

I had been wondering the same thing after seeing an infomercial. It seems that, if it really works, this would be a good makeup for men to use, especially in smaller theaters.

Thanks for the info!

Any other opinions on this stuff? Does it really work well? I want to believe the infomercial but I just can't. What does it cover? Does it stay on well?

This stuff really is great, the powder is extremely forgiving and easy to use. I used it during a run of Barnum and never needed to reapply during intermission!

I use Bare Minerals and I absolutely love it! The product works wonderfully and doesn't look cakey or like you're wearing very much makeup. My favorite is the warmth--it's not exactly a blush, but it brings out the warm colors that are naturally in the skin. It never ceases to amaze me.

My only issue is that I found that my skin was getting dried out from using Bare Minerals, but I found the right moisturizer and I don't have any more problems. Burt Bees is kind of a life saver :)

I've used it for two years and can't imagine going back to using liquid make-up again. It's very light and stays on all day. I asked for it because of the infomercials and have been using it since. I have dark eye circles and it's the only thing I've found that will cover them. Another plus is that I never break out anymore. I love it.

I wish I had the $60 bucks to spend on a starter set, but this poor college student has to save for the summer. The commercials have always tempted me, and from what I hear, it actually works quite well. Walgreen's make-up aisle just isn't cutting it for me anymore.

I here you on the poor college student issue, but if it helps, the starter kit lasted me for almost a year. This was with using it nearly everyday. It's worth it, if you ask me. It costs less than buying new foundation, bronzer and concealer every month or so.

I am so happy that someone started this thread because I have been debating buying this stuff since I first heard about it. Now I just hope I get the right shade..

Ditto what everyone else said. I'm a makeup junkie, and I've been using this stuff for about a year and a half. It's good stuff.

It stays on really well, and it hides circles and blemishes perfectly. When you first get it, you may have to play with it a little - it's takes a few tries to get the "balance" of the finish right. If you have Sephora stores near you, they can probably give you a demo at the store and help you choose a shade.

I've also noticed since I've switched to this from liquid, I have fewer breakouts and my skin seems clearer.

I've been using it for a couple of weeks, and I'm now down to less than two minutes total to apply the foundation, warmth, and mineral veil. And I've been getting compliments on my skin. I highly recommend it.
