I have fairly typical old-lady skin. It's too dry and there's a gazillion wrinkles and I have rosacea to boot. And with all these challenges I still LOVE the minerals makeup. You can't feel it at all once it's on and it doesn't seem to come off during the day.

I love this stuff. Fairly light + warmth + glee and I look like I got 8 hours of sleep. The Mineral Veil is especially great in the summertime. I'll put a light layer of that on underneath the other stuff (as well as on top) and it seems to make it more sweatproof.

If you try it and don't like it immediately, give it a couple of minutes. Sometimes it feels like it has to set up on my face before it looks right.

Don't be too sure I'm as crooked as I'm supposed to be.

I also use the mineral veil before the warmth (rather than after, as directed). If you play with it a little, you get the right balance for your complexion.

In the summertime when I have a tan, I also sometimes mix a little warmth in with the foundation to darken it up. Beats having to buy a different color for the summer.

I recently bought the Bare Mineral blush in the "Beauty" color. It looks hot pink in the canister, but once it's on, it just gives a nice little blush to the cheeks. Lasts all day too.

Also, the stuff lasts forever, since you use so little. I think I spend less $$ on makeup overall than I used to.

I'm a big fan!

Warmth is also good as a lip color. Mix it with a little clear gloss and apply.

I am actually wondering if anyone on here has used that Dermacia stuff - its sort of the same concept as Bare Minerals, and I saw a long ass infomercial on it. I considered ordering it for the hell of it awhile ago, but haven't yet..

I've been using bare escentuals for years. I really appreciate it most in summer when my foundation would usually melt off my face from the heat. I use the eye shadow colors also. I once picked up one of the jars upside down and spilled it all over my carpet. What a horror cleaning that brown eyeshadow off a rug.
You need to concentrate on what you're doing and not be a klutz and have the minerals all over the place. By the way, Leslie's company just went public and you can buy the stock. The symbol is BARE. I love clear radiance but I haven't ever used Glee.

I can only imagine the mess that must have been! Bare minerals application is a strictly bathroom activity for me for that very reason. I still make a mess, but it's easier to clean the sink than a rug.

I'm just bumping this thread because I've started using bare minerals for a show I'm in and this stuff is amazing. I'm a guy. I was hesitant at first because I have extremely light sensitive skin and I had found a cheaper mineral foundation that seemed to do the trick for my stage make-up needs, but it still looked somewhat cakey and was actually very hard to wash off. I kept seeing the infomercials for bare minerals so I decided to give it a try and there are just no words. This stuff is great. It works with my skin beautifully.

The fairly light shade by itself is a perfect match for my skin tone so I don't have to do any blending or mixing of colors and it gives me amazing coverage. One of the reasons I couldn't wear liquid foundations was because of my acne and even the liquids that claim not to clog pores just don't work for me when I'm under the lights and mixing liquid foundation with sweat. Bare minerals doesn't mix. It stays put. It doesn't rub off on costumes and it covers whatever blemishes I might have that day completely and effortlessly. It really is a great product. I can even wear it to an audition for some cover-up and as a confidence booster and with one or two passes of the brush my skin looks ten times better and it's nearly impossible to tell that I'm wearing any make up. It's great. Anyone thinking about giving it a try should do so now. Stop waiting. Updated On: 6/29/07 at 03:56 PM

I purchased mine at the Sephora store in a local mall. Last weekend I was back in that mall and discovered that Bare Escentuals now has their own store! I didn't stop in then but I'll bet they would offer color advice and training on application.

Thanks for the update Cats. I have wondered about this product myself, and, based on your recommendation, I will give it a try.

I've got dry sensitive skin. If I use it more than a day in a row, I get bumps on my face.

I know, it's not supposed to happen, but there it is. Love the finish it gives though, and it does stay on all day.

I love this stuff. I just got it about a week ago and it's fantastic! It really pulls my skin tone together and gives me color.

...no, I'm not being paid to endorse it either. I wish.

I LOVE this stuff. have had cystic acne my whole life, no makeup ever looked good...NEver bought anything from an infomercial, but bought the "starter kit" at Sephora on a whim one day. It comes with a CD and instructional book inside. You have to get used to using just a SMIDGEN of the product, It's amazing. The brushes are superior, too. My lousy skin never looked better and doesn't look like I'm wearing makeup. The mineral veil can be applied numerous times during the day and never builds up or feels heavy. No, I don't work for the company.

Catsny:
Kind of an irritation bump. Not quite hives, not quite zits. They go away if I keep my skin clean for a day or two.

THANK YOU for starting this thread! I've been trying to look for a powder that is light but not to heavy for my skin. I hate it when I see girls my age pile on makeup, its really distasteful and disgusting. Now all I need is a trip down to the Mall of America to buy the goods! re: Bare Escentuals Vs. Bare Minerals

FYI to anyone in the Minnesota region: At MOA they have a Bare Essentials store; definately worth checking out!
