I'm disgusted by this thread. This isn't what the movie is about. The movie would not approve. You've made the movie sad. All of you. Especially you, papa.

Again, no response to the question.
As far as I'm concerned, I've answered your question. Do you need everything spelled out for you? Could be why you didn't like the movie.

Oh, I agree that movie spelled next to nothing out. Which left a LOT of room for people like yourself to "see" what was nowhere on the screen. And for some reason to overidentify with that nothingness to the point that you will be proud and crying when somebody else wins an award for it.
As far as you're concerned you may have answered questions, but just scroll back, see the sentences that end with ? that I directed to you, and see how you did not answer them.
No thanks. I've moved on. Perhaps you should too.

"No thanks. I've moved on. Perhaps you should too."
Uh-huh.
Speaking of looking back, I had not seen Jose's gushing love-letter-to-BBM thread until it was just resurrected... I wish people like Luscious could convey WHAT it was that made them not only overlook the flaws in the film but, in fact, call the flaws the opposite of what they are.
Luscious wrote, "Just got back from seeing BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN and words cannot do it justice. It's a heartbreakingly beautiful film that works on every possible level."
Every possible level? Maybe as an allegory but certainly not on the level of realism.
"Story wise, seemingly simple, yet full of complexities and nuances. Everything about it is authentic, and every performance rings absolutely true."
Oh, let me just start with the most major of the inauthenticities: NO straight men, NONE OF THEM, have sex the way those two do for the first time. ESPECIALLY after drinking. None. And I don't care if its faithful to the short story, that's Prioux's fantasy. Which is fine. But it's inauthentic. Here's another, that's not what bullriders' bodies looked like in the early-'60s. Believe me, I know the subject.
"But I'll go out on a limb and predict that BROKEBACK will win this year's Oscar for Best Picture. I cannot imagine a better or more deserving film."
Seriously? Literally? You cannot imagine a better film? You must have a fairly limited imagination. I've seen better films, lots of them. So it's not only impossible to imagine them, it's possible to measure the failures of BBM against them.
And what makes a movie like Brokeback "deserving" over another anyway? If it wins, and you cry with pride, will it be a triumph of merit or marketing?
"His performance ranks up there with the likes of Brando at his peak."
Each is entitled to his opinion. But that's simply a wrong one.
Guess the only way some people can feel better about themselves is to ridicule others and invalidate their opinions. Namo... for the love of everything holy... LET IT GO AND MOVE ON! Your determination to always be right and have the last word comes off as insecure desperation.

I don't give a **** about right or wrong, fan or not fan, all these things that people who are overinvested and overdefensive of BBM seem to need to delineate when people don't have the "right" response to it, in their awash with tears of pride opinion.
Fact is, you don't support or back up the things you say, which leads me to the conclusion that you are unable to. Just like in your last post.
You have my blessing to arrive at any conclusion you like. Just ARRIVE already, for Christ's sake!
When will people learn not to take on Namo unless you're properly equipped? And I mean that in every possible way.
One thing I DO agree with, the sex scene rings very very false.

And it's kinda the lynch(you should excuse the expression)pin of the whole enterprise.
popcultureboy... Maybe you're ill equipped to take on a bullying, insecure, goading know-it-all; I'm not. And please stop blowing smoke up Namo's ass. He lives for it. And frankly, it's pathetic.
I'm not blowing smoke anywhere and I am not about to get into a fight with you about who's equipped for what.
kringas, you ignorant slut. how dare you single me out, but worse how dare you presume to speak for the film! this film is bigger than any one voice. this film is bigger than any one cowboy. this film is bigger than any one community. this film is bigger than barry bonds' head. this film is life itself and how dare you presume to tell me how to live my life!
pcb, good to se you smoking again. i thought you were a fine judge of equipment. no?
Oh yes papa I am indeed, a fine fine judge

PCB, glad to hear you're not blowing smoke, that's unhealthy!
Luscious, once again, you turn a discussion of actual points about the actual movie into a discussion of BWW personalities. But you go on with your dreamy thoughts of Oscar night in the face of actual discussion of the movie itself.

Who is Barry Bonds? Was he in The Rocky Horror Picture Show?
"Luscious, once again, you turn a discussion of actual points about the actual movie into a discussion of BWW personalities. But you go on with your dreamy thoughts of Oscar night in the face of actual discussion of the movie itself."
No amount of goading will get me to bite. But I can assure you; I'd definitely leave marks if I did.

Well, if that's as toothless as your ability to back up your blanket statements, I can't really say I'm all that worried.
I reiterate...
Your determination to always be right and have the last word comes off as insecure desperation.
Every time Namo enters an argument, it becomes less about the content and more about whether he can bully someone into a corner and emerge with the lunch money.

And who exactly held a gun to your head and demanded you return to this thread, (which was going on perfectly fine without you), to repeat what you said before? I get it, you have nothing to say so you go after me. I got it the first three times.
But you'd think if you were going to step back in the arena you'd come back with something new. But nope, you're just repeating your anti-Namo stance and not backing up your generalizations.
Hey Namo... BACK THIS UP!

Geez BlueWizard, I was actually looking forward to your returning so we could go back to arguing the merits of the film, scroll back and you'll see it's true. But Luscious pushed it into the personalities cul de sac. So sorry to see how quickly you rushed to join him there.
