re: Yankees!

woo hoo!!!!

I keep missing these discussions during the games! But everyone knows that I am cheering on the Yankees the whole time. If they do something good, I cheer. If they do something bad, I curse. If we win, THE YANKEES WIN! THE YANKEES WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *happy dance*

re: Yankees!

A recommendation-

If you're a serious fan and really like statistics, try the Game Chatter at baseballthinkfactory.com. The guys there (and except for 2 or 3 members, they are all guys) are smart and really, really devoted to the game. If you don't have at least some understanding of stats, though- can you instantly tell me the meaning of OPS?- you might want to stick to chatting here. :)

re: Yankees!

Woohoo, Jeter does it again. Never has a player in my opinion just always been soo clutch and stepped up the right time...

Mo, on the other hand...I said it all throughout the horrible ALCS last year, can't Torre just learn that Mo does not have the magic over the Red Sox that he does with other teams? Oy.

re: Yankees!

Who would you prefer he use, wickedrentq? Mo's the best pitcher in the bullpen, bar none, and in the most important situation you use the best pitcher. I'd rather risk it with Mo than with anyone, even someone good like Gordon or Karsay.

re: Yankees!

Damn! The second transaction I had just cancelled out w/ a better offer. It would have been nice to have found out earlier lady! *scours craigslist again* re: Yankees!

re: Yankees!

I've never heard of such issues with craigslist! I have gotten tickets successfully quite a few times on there.

Have you tried stubhub?
#108

re: Yankees!

I just have know how to pick 'em! *sigh*

I'm still perusing craigslist, but of the ones that are cheap (I really need bleacher seats. I'm going w/ a friend who's kinda strapped for cash and really doesn't care about baseball, so I really can't be like "Hey found these decent $30 seats.")...Anyway, the cheapies all seem to be ticketfast, and w/ the way these other two have gone by the wayside, no way I'm taking a chance on ticketfast!

Oh well, maybe I'll find something. *shrug* If not, I guess I'll have to go to class afterall. I was looking forward to blowing off class and enjoying a nice day outside (today was BEAUTIFUL!!!) as much as seeing my first ever Red Sox/Yanks game. One day! It'll be worth the wait, and my boys will win!

Ooooh, I totally just realized I didn't flip Wally on his head today or yesterday. Jerry Remy (the Sox announcer) always flips their little stuffed Wally on his head during a Sox game. I know it's totally stupid, but I kid you not: I didn't flip Wally until Game 4 of the ALCS, then I flipped him upside down and left him that way, and lo and behold, they won 8 in a row...I'm just sayin'...re: Yankees!

re: Yankees!

wally? you sox fans are weird...

re: Yankees!

No, it's a sports fan thing in general. In 2003 I helped the Yankees win the ALCS by sitting in the exact same spot during every game.

And in the 2001 World Series, I listened to Games 3, 4, and 5 on the radio, missed Game 6 because I was out, then tried to watch Game 7 on TV. We all know what happened then. Coincidence? re: Yankees!

I don't think I have any rituals or superstitions like that...

re: Yankees!

That is wally?
You all can keep your superstitions! I'm good just wearing my Jeter shirt and cheering at the games or watching from the bar.

re: Yankees!

Yeah, that's the little stuffed Wally I have (though mine doesn't have a baseball/glove). I even have a little red and white beach chair for him (he's supposed to come w/ an Adirondack chair, but that was just too pricey, so I just had to get creative). re: Yankees! Yes, I totally realize how sad this is!

re: Yankees!

I just can't get over how Tino Martinez is back on the team. I LOVE HIM!! He's soo good. Awesome catch on opening game. I missed him for the past couple of years. You can also tell that the crowd loves him.

re: Yankees!

*blush* What can I say, it's all in good fun!!! Besides, little Wally looks cute on my desk in his little beach chair!

Well, looks like I've got yet another pair set up for tomorrow. $15/ea in Tier 5 (I think??) How are those? Any idea? It was from a guy looking for a Sox fan! Woohoo! Hopefully this'll be a "third time's a charm" sort of deal. My fingers are officially crossed. (Though I bent on my "no ticketfast" rule. Actually, I'm a big nerd and like to keep all my tix to everything I got to, so it was as much the fact that I wouldn't be getting a real ticket as the potential for being scammed that had me steering clear of ticketfast. Whatever. It's worth a shot, I guess.)

brdlwyr- want to join me for a Cubs game on May 27th at Wrigley? Cubs are my second fav team

re: Yankees!

La Vie Boheme, I think- no, I know that as they are right now, the Yankees are one of the best teams in baseball this year, and easily championship contenders. Are the Red Sox better? Yes, very slightly. But they're close enough that the rivalry could easily go either way.

re: Yankees!

Plum!! How dare you say the Red Sox are better than the Yankees????????? I feel so betrayed!!!!!!!!!!!!

re: Yankees!

I think our starting rotation's got some issues though. Shilling's a bit of a question mark. Who knows how this surgery will affect him, if at all. And then our third Miller is on the DL. Not to mention that I'm totally NOT loving Wells after Sunday! I think you guys have an advantage out of the gate. Should be interesting to see what happens as the season progresses.
