They will be like the expos. They will develop talent and trade it away before they have to pay $3. A payroll of $89 million is an embarrassment. No one says they should go bat**** crazy like the Dodgers or Tigers. Detroit is self is worth less than the contract they just gave out but $ 89 million....
Why give a long time contract to Wright who has a history of back problems? They dump a few long term contracts and than do it again. He will be pushing 40 when it ends.
They are still suffering under the Carlos Beltran curse. Mets get 3 home runs (Wright finally got one) and still lose. Grandy goes 0/5 . The bullpen is a bigger disaster than the Titanic. Question: Why did Collins leave him in for that last batter? Last year he was Capt Hook. This year what gives.

This is one of their trademarks.
Looks like 1 st base is going to be a disaster and hopefully Granderson will improve as he could not do worse. naturally Collin was doing his we gotta do better bs.
It is going to be like running on a treadmill in the opposite direction this year. Only when this team is sold will their be any chance. If attendance continues to decline maybe management will get the message.

Eris- It really takes a lot for me to like a Phillies fan, so there.
I was at the game. Blergh. Not bad offensively. Strasburg is overrated as hell and babied by his organization but we got enough runs off of him to win, not really in terms of strategy but a lot of luck. But I'd rather have luck than skills, especially if it neutralized a few instances of bad luck during the game. It's just one game, though. Valverde looked excellent but shades of teetering on the edge, which still made him look boss amongst a group of scrubs in the bullpen. Wright looked his usual self, Gee was fine too, Lagares clearly is aiming to prove he is an everyday player, and the rest need to wake up to remember they're not in Port St. Lucie. Also of note, there were several different lineup changes because Daniel Murphy had to leave because his wife went into labor. The middle infield chemistry was shaky, though that speaks to Tejada not being good and EY Jr. being put in that position last minute, but were next week going to be a Murphy and a **hopefully** Stephen Drew middle infield, I'll take it in a hot minute. Granderson is a streaky player. He is not of my concerns, however.
Not sure if Roxy blocked me but JFC, Roxy, if you think Beltran cursed this team since 2006 then it just so happens to be that mindset of Mets fandom that I most detest. The Wilpons since owning the team have done more irreparable damage than anybody associated with this organization on the field. But Willie Randolph's piss-poor strategy that whole series was more crucial than the fact Beltran got fooled on an Adam Wainwright breaking ball in a series where he was great, only Delgado was better of that whole roster in the playoffs, shows short-term memory. Plus, we got Zack Wheeler for him. Be grateful for his contributions with the team than the fact we had no shot to win against Wainwright.

Saved me the trouble of tuning in
There is one small bright spot and that is Granderson may be starting to get going.
Of course Travis D is still struggling at the plate and 1 st base is still a monumental disaster. If they go 500 this year, they should throw a party. Seeing how cheap management is, it may be at a Micky D's

After effects of The Carlos Beltran curse or Bernie Madoff
Personally, think Madoff is just being used as an excuse. Management is cheap pure and simple. This team will **** until the team is sold to someone willing to spend more than bottle deposit money on the team.
