Pulp Fiction is brilliant. I love that the beginning and ending are the same scenes.

Best opening songs: Donnie Darko (NOT the Director's Cut. They used a blah song for the opening in that version) and The Boondock Saints. Irish music rocks.

Freedomland (subdued & eerie, love the bloody handprint)
Reservoir Dogs
Moulin Rouge (yes, I said it biatches!)
Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow
The Incredibles ( :) )

Remember that Dracula movie with Gary Oldman, Keanu, and Winona? It had a pretty freaky opening, kinda cool though...

Oh jeez, Ghost Ship - now THAT is an opening sequence.

Also like the gas station scene in Baz Luhrmann's R&J.

Though cheesy at times, the opening to Austin Powers 2 is pretty funny, with the extended gag of random things covering up Austin's...extremities

Yeah, it was terrific. When I first saw it, I was like "Holy ****! This'll actually be good!". Alas, the movie never reached those heights again.

The opening of WEST SIDE STORY and THE SOUND OF MUSIC are basically the same, except one is the NYC skyline and the other the Austrian alps. It's no coincidence that they share the same director.

I really loved the opening scene of The Matrix.

I'll second Halloween and Scream as well.

Kill Bill Vol 1 deserves a mention also.

Ohhh, Lion King is a good one. I also love Chicago's [All Tha Jazz--wow] and Bridget Jones' Diary's [when she sings All By Myself].
