my least favorite is anything that's done waaay to slow. i've heard some on the radio that would have been nice, had they not been so slow.
my favorite is domonik the donkey :)
the italian side of my family plays it every year on christmas eve and our cousin debbie dances to it.

"Carol of the Bells" is my favorite. I'm on a mission to see it performed in New York over Christmas in a beautiful setting with a grand choir. Can anyone help?
I'm also partial to "All I Want For Christmas Is You".
I HATE "Santa Baby". There's many more I hate but I don't want to take up bandwidth.
"Good luck returning my ass!" - Wilhemina Slater
"This is my breakfast, lunch and f***ing dinner right here. I'm not even f***in' joking." - Colin Farrell

Tchi4Lif188: Funny, those are the two I immediately thought of. However, I'm just the opposite. I can't stand "Christmas Shoes," but I love "The Little Drummer Boy." The former is too maudlin for my taste, while the latter I find very haunting. "Drummer Boy" gives me chills, especially when sung by a choir.

Favorite traditional: Ding Dong Merrily On High, Bring a Torch Jeanette Isabella, Silent Night, Carol of the Bells, I Saw Three Ships
Favorite (sorta) modern: The Merriest (June Christy), Holly Jolly Christmas (Burl Ives), A Christmas Carol (from the movie "Scrooge"), It Happened In Sun Valley (Glenn Miller & the Modernaires), Christmastime Is Here (Vince Guaraldi & the Peanuts gang), Winter Was Warm (Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol), Everybody's Waitin' For the Man With the Bag (Kay Starr)
Least favorite? Most of the really modern Christmas songs (from the '90s to today), sad to say. They just don't measure up to the classics.

Posted: 11/25/06 at 7:32pmI don't actually feel there are "bad" Christmas songs, just horrible singing and recording of some classics.

Posted: 11/25/06 at 7:35pmI think they're ALL the worst Christmas songs. I HATE Christmas music. Except, coincidentally, "You're A Mean One Mister Grinch."

Hard Candy Xmas/Lynne Wintersteller

A click for life.

My favorites are the songs in the White Christmas film, even the ones that aren't necessarily "Christmas" songs.
Alternatively, "Christmas Shoes" makes me want to hang myself. Last year, at our Christmas party, my friends put it on repeat, so my best friend and I retaliated by singing RENT at the top of our lungs, starting at the beginning and not stopping until they turned it off.

Favorite :
Silent Night
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
I'll Be Home for Christmas
O Holy Night
Silver Bells
White Christmas
Winter Wonderland
Santa Baby (only because it's campy and silly, of course I've only heard Kylie Minogue and Eartha Kitt's versions)
Baby, It's Cold Outside
O Come All Ye Faithful
The First Noel
Sleigh Ride
Have a Holly Jolly Christmas (makes me feel like a kid again)
least favorite:
Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
Christmas Shoes

Posted: 11/25/06 at 7:53pmOkay, I do like "baby, it's Cold outside" but it's not really directly a holiday song. It's just kind of a winter song, right?

You can add "Jingle Bells," "Let It Snow," and "Winter Wonderland" to that list, Geek.

I can usually enjoy "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas," only because my friend's and I have an inside joke regarding it, and "Silent Night," "Carol of the Bells," and "O Holy Night."
But for the most part, I really don't like most holiday songs. Nor am I a big fan of decorations... Yet I'm a Christian.

Dammit, you're right, SM2.
Oh well. I just like the song. I hate all the really old-fashioned Christmas songs, but there's a few of the newer ones I don't mind. But I hate all the stupid kiddie ones. Like the Alvin and the Chipmunks song, and the uppets singing the "12 Days of Christmas".
The one song I really do love,a nd this was inherited from my mother, was "Christmas Song". You know, chestnuts roasing on an oopen fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose? It's the only one I tolerate and I think it sums up all the other ones in a simplistic, beautiful package.

Really good albums:
1. The first Barbra [the second one is bo-o-o-ring]
2. Lena Horne
3. Ella
4. Frank
5. Julie
6. Maureen McGovern [her best album]
7. Nancy LaMott
It is surprising that there are no Judy Garland or Aretha or Sarah Vaughan xmas albums.

I'm a traditionalist, so I gravitate toward O, HOLY NIGHT and SILENT NIGHT.
But I also really like IT WOULDN'T BE CHRISTMAS WITHOUT YOU - because I live with the lyricist.
