"I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day" is one of my favorites. Mainly due to the fact that it's based on a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow who taught at a college here in Maine. So yeah, Maine!
As for my least favorite, any of the terrible covers I'm forced to listen to at work. There's this one in particular of "Winter Wonderland" that is so awful that every time it comes on, I try to avoid it by taking a bathroom break.

I just remembered a few more. I also love "Mary Did You Know?" and I adore "Breath of Heaven." I had to sing that at a concert in 7th grade and forgot about it, but it's beautiful.
Another one I detest: "Christmas Through Your Eyes" by...Gloria Estefan, I think? Drives me crazy for some reason.

I love Santa Baby. How can you not? Though I detest the Madonna version.
Other favorites:
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Judy Garland
Silent Night - Barbra Streisand (Happening in Central Park)
White Christmas - Streisand
Baby It's Cold Outside (not so much Christmas, but...)
Christmas Time Is Here (Charlie Brown)
And although there may not be a Judy Christmas album, there will always be the Judy Garland Christmas Special. Judy, Liza, Lorna, Joey singing "Consider Yourself". Lovely.

oh my god i just downloaded Christmas shoes--what a god awful song. It is trying so hard to sound sweet but it sounds nauseating. The words are awful. I know its suppose to make you think about Christmas spirit but it came across lame to me. and i can't help but think this they boy is lying and scamming the man...
I'm going to bed now.

Wow, everyone is beating up on Christmas Shoes. It is by no means my favorite, but I didn't think it was that bad!
Favorite (non traditional):
Anything off of Snoopy vs Red Baron (my dad used to play the whole record every year when we were putting up the Christmas tree)
"Where are you Christmas" - Faith Hill
BroadwayBoobs: I'll give all of you who weren't there a hint of who took the pictures ...it rhymes with shameless
SOMMS: I knew it was Tink!

My favorite - Kay Starr singing Everybody's Waiting For The Man With The Bag.
My least favorite - I've managed to block the artist and the song title from my memory, but it was about a mouse who happens upon a cat during a snowstorm on Christmas Eve. Instead of eating the mouse, the cat offers to let him seek shelter by his side on the cold, cold December night. Fast forward past a chorus and SANTA shows up to tell the mouse that the cat froze to death keeping him warm on Christmas.
/eggnog, please.
//make mine a double.

Oh, yes! It was on some fairly recent Christmas compilation that played in my store last year. I want to say it was Loreena McKennitt, but I can't be sure and I'm unwilling to do the research as it might end up in me hearing that song again.
I'm just going to go back to my classic Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner with all the dead orphans. It's much cheerier.

some of my favorites are
DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR?
I DONT INTEND TO SPEND CHRISTMAS WITHOUT YOU
GOD REST YE MERRY GENTLEMEN
JESU, JOY OF MANS DESIRING
but really, it all depends on who is doing them. if it comes from the heart, i like it (no matter how sappy).
i think i hate all the "modern" ones.

My favorites: "The Channukah Song" by Adam Sandler, "Carol of the Bells", "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", "Breath of Heaven", "Go Tell it On the Mountain", "Angels We Have Heard On High"
My least favorites: "O Holy Night" (I like it, but that all changed when my choral group was auditioning for the lighting of the Christmas tree in downtown Indianapolis [out of 150 acts, only 6 were chosen and we got in!]. 75% of the people there sang that song. I went nuts.) and 'Silent Night."
Am I the only one who thinks "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" is hilarious? I was raised in the south, so I thoroughly enjoy redneck humor.

"The Christmas Shoes" and "Grown-up Christmas Wish" make me want to pull out my own hair and then glue it back on so I can rip it out again.
Other that those two, though, I love Christmas music - especially choral music with good organ accompaniment. There's nothing like it.

I grew up not celebrating Christmas, so I'm still getting used to "religious" Christmas songs...still tend to favor the ones that are more "seasonal"..my favorite is Sleighride. But I also like "All I want for Christmas is You"
The Hippo song annoys the hell out of me.

Posted: 12/3/06 at 3:15amHow could I forget -- "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm" by Irving Berlin. It really isn't a Christmas song, but it's a nice jazzy "holidays" tune. I have two recordings of it (Bette Midler and Jon Peterson) and both are just excellent.

Favorites: Grown Up Christmas List; Breath of Heaven; Carol of the Bells; Sleigh Ride; Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas & Christmas Star (both from Home Alone II)
Hate: Blue Christmas. What sick mother-f***** wrote it? Christmas song? The cheesy Elvis version makes me want to slit my wrists.
