You forget the also have fyunny spikkeen voysuhs. That's what makes it so funny.
Y'all jess hate Bieb's cos he's Canadian & Rich. Yeah he got lucky w timing but that's whut pees u off. "It shud happen 2 MEEEEE". Sucks to be a pour Yankee.
So he gots no manners w normul folks- he don't need- to he got peopuls he pays 4 that. and dang the kid barely entered high scholl coarse he got no edjumaction. He don needs to to make muny & git laid. & ain't that all u needs in life??
^^I wonder which took longer: me reading that or you writing it. :)
Whaaaaa you doooooin heah?
I think someones drunk child is posting for them.
Stockard. I guess I see his appeal to the kids. Every generation has it's pretty boy. I'm too old to be in love with him but I see why the kids are. I thought he was natural in his skits. He doesn't claim to be an actor or comedian.
Oh well, so what, right?

Yes - retire the Californians. I liked it the first time, craked a smile the second time but now this is just tired. I am always disappointed when skits are done for the 4th, 5th, 6th plus times. Although not on this week, "What's up with that?" is over due for a funeral at this point too!
I didn't think the Grease parody was funny. It felt too clunky and wasn't smooth at all. I knew what they were trying to do but it didn't work for me.
Snafu - I watched the show with your shopper and she was really disappointed that most of the items she tracked down in the blizzard never made it into a single skit. LOL
Since Bieber is forever posing and trying to be the pretty boy...all I could think of each time he appeared was: what will he do when he ages and the skin isn't as tight, the wrinkles start to appear, his tight little six pack becomes a 'keg' and the muffin rolls fall over his underwear (notice I didn't say pants cause those are around his knees).
The kid is lucky to have a good group of wranglers who are strategically branding and placing him in opportunistic locations. Once his crew tires of him as his 'light' fades...so will he.

You could say the same thing about any number of young stars. that's what happens.
Everyone ages, so everyone who enjoys fame because of the things you stated, loses them when they age. There's no alternative to aging. Hopefully he's investing his money wisely. I see nothing wrong with making the money while you can.
How about sports stars? They have a very short life in the limelight - whatever the sport is. You don't hear about most of them when their sports life is over. Only a few go on to be coaches, commentators, etc. They made their money and then they live the rest of their lives. Wish I could have done that!

Absolutely agree with you Jane2. It is great for him that he is in fact collecting the money while he can. The potential problem is (from what I understand) his attitude. This goes for all young stars like Bieber. Eventually they won't be "the" in thing and a humble attitude will be what gets them the next job as the coach, commentator, etc
hahaha yes, we all dream that dream to make it rich and live the rest of life but is the grass really greener? I've worked for very very weathly people and I've found them all to be incredibly unhappy miserable people. Might be great to dream but I think I'd be happiest being comfortable rather than filthy rich.
Bieber also doesn't strike me as one who will be particularly savvy with his money.

Well, for one thing, I never mentioned anything about being filthy rich. My point was comparing Bieber to any other stars having their 15 minutes of fame, and how it's not such a bad thing, and then I compared them to sports figures, having to make their money in a short amount of time and then living the rest of their life however they choose to live it, taking on another profession, or not.
Filthy rich wasn't in my mind, tho
I agree "The Californians" is past tired, but "What's Up with That?" is performed with such demented glee it makes me smile every time! I don't think the latter actually depends on being laugh-out-loud funny.
What makes What Up With That? funny is Jason's dancing!
^^^Agreed, but it's Mr. Thompson's joi de vivre that hooks me every time. I think he's always a joy to watch, whether a particular skit is funny or not.
As Bette Milder once wrote (more or less), "You needn't be pretty or talented or smart/Just very enthusiastic!"

Kenan is quite infectious. He always seems to be having a blast!
I've been a Kenan fan since the first days of All That.
Fun fact for ya: Bieber was born just a month before All That debuted.

Snafu - agree! I love to watch Jason's crazy dance moves in What's Up With That...but I'd sooner gamble a funny new sketch to a 5th time rehash. If the writers are writing more skits than they use each week then WHY do they continue to lean on the old stuff? (rhetorical question)
Beause the preview audiences seem to love the old stuff. They cut two to three sketches before air and for good reasons. They sound funny on paper but just don't work. SNL has always had reoccurring sketches.

I couldn't sit through ten minutes of the episode... The pomposity on that kid makes my skin crawl.

i agree with what SNAFU said... Keenan always looks like he's just having the time of his life being on the show... and it does come across as infectious... which is why i love when he's in a sketch, particularly the What's up with that...
also... i enjoy the Californians... i laugh so much at it and i guess it really is only one of those geographically specific jokes which is why it won't work with much of America... and after living in LA for 8 years there are so many ways to get around that city that it's insane.. so i am always laughing at the skit because i know some of those streets and areas they talk about
I lived in LA for 20 years and, like any Angeleno, knew every possible alternative route to get anywhere on the "right" side of the Hollywood Hills. (Wouldn't go to the Valley without a licensed guide and a team of camels.) But I still think the joke is played out.

I have never felt so old.
ha, I wasn't paying attention to the part of the Californians that dealt with the road directions - I was too busy laughing at the way they pronounce words!
I know we have a new episode to deconstruct, but before we leave behind the Bieber fiasco for good, have we discussed Seth Myers' grammatical error during Weekend Update on Feb. 9?
The joke went something along these lines:
"A new study has shown that the first thing people notice about somebody on a first date is the whiteness of his teeth and his grammar.
Good news for those whom have both!"
Not much of a joke, but the correct grammar is "who" not "whom" -- "who" is the subjective pronoun of the phrase "who has both."
Compare to similar a construction:
"Good news for those (people): they have both." (You wouldn't say "Them have both.")
This happens to be the single most common grammatical error on the internet these days, so I started wondering whether Myers was erring on purpose. But if so, then I can't figure out what the joke is suppose to be.
(And yes, I recorded and played it twice to make sure I hadn't misheard it.)
Any thoughts (other than about my OCD problems)?
I believe that was the joke, a self deprecating one. Deconstructing a joke never really works.
Maybe he should have used a rim shot?
