Biggest Rip Off In NYC

Ever go to Spice Market in the meat packing district.
What a rip off. They brought me a terrible glass of merlot which tasted fermented and charged me 15 dollars for it.
NYC is insane.
Tell me your biggest rip off. I will never go back.

re: Biggest Rip Off In NYC

My biggest rip off was working in a restaurant in Union Square where people didn't come to eat so much as they came to drink and dance, I would work 12 hours, come home at 4 AM and not get paid a cent by the owners.

Somehow I did that for six months.

Those Eurpoa Cafe's and other cafe style places. They charge crazy amounts of money for like a half of a panini sandwich or salad. There are so many other places to eat where you can get a decent amount of food for your money AND be able to sit down. The food is good and all, but definitely not worth the money if you have other options.

Best Value In NYC

Greatest happy hour in NYC:
Yodo of Japan
47th 5th and Madison. It has the best spicy tuna rolls in the City for three dollars from 5:30- 8. The first one is free with a drink purchase.
The merlot is better then Spice Markets and only costs 3.50 a glass with a free tuna roll.
The steamed shrimp shumai is orgasmic but not as good as the spicy tuna rolls.
All appetizers at the bar are only three dollars.
Happy Hour is only Monday- Friday and Yodo is closed on Saturdays.
It is the best find in the City.

I'm a Barrymore's girl when it comes to drinks. I've never paid more than $7 for a drink and more importantly they just know how to treat you there.

Wicked.
BSoBW2: I punched Sondheim in the face after I saw Wicked and said, "Why couldn't you write like that!?"

Yodo the beers are $2.50 and decent merlot is only $3.50.
I love the place.

Grey's Papaya is the best! "The Inflation Buster special!" "Tastier than Filet Mignon!"

Those hot dogs are so good, they don't need mustard or anything!

And there's nothing like a 75 cent frank at 3 in the morning when you've spent the rest of your money getting smashed and sloshed.

Sumofalltings, do you realize the subject of your post says "The Best Value in NYC" and you said Wicked?

Spice Market is superb. The rip-off is Matsuri, a must-to-avoid at all costs.

ok i cant think of a best value in nyc (because almost everything is so damn expensive) but one of the rip-offs is a sandwhich at katz deli...near soho. The sandwhiches are huge (ill give them that) but 12 bucks for one? give me a break! =D

i like the wine choices at 'ino on Bedford St... the Aglianico is great... i am a Merlot drinker by nature, but now it seems to becoming the wine of choice for the scenesters, much like C****nay was awhile ago... i am leaning toward Pinot Noir now...

I have to say, 9th Avenue Vinters is one of my favourite wine stores. I got an amazing white from Spain for $8 a bottle. The entire staff knows everything about every bottle of wine they have, and they don't mind giving you tastes of anything you're thinking about getting.

Any time you order wine in a restaurant you get ripped off, considering how much it is to buy the bottle in a wine store.
My latest rip off was at the prix fixe lunch for Restaurant Week at Tocqueville. Being that there were just two of us, we each ordered a glass of wine (bordeaux and syrah). The wine came to $28.00 which I thought was excessive.

Corine have you been to Union Pacific? I'm in love with the place.

Well the wine at Yodo is as good as the wine i had at Spice and the wine at Yodo is a mere $3.50 a glass.

No Sammy. It is a pretty place but i thought the wine was awful.
They sold me a bad glass and charged $15.00.
I was really pissed.
But i don't want to close it. I just won't drink there.
I guess i can not afford to drink there.
Bad wine for 15.00 a pop.

didn't you send the wine back?

I never send things back. I should have though.
I actually threw it up last night.
It was rancid.
