I've been in line at Target for three hours now. Only 30 minutes until they open and I bust in there knocking old lady down to get what I want before heading to Wal Mart, Kohls, Best Buy and all the other STUPID stores who decided to open at midnight this year.
Who else is taking part in this ridiculous tradition?
Good luck Jordan!!!! You could not pay me to go out tonight! My time and self respect are too valuable. The only thing I wanted was the 199 TV at Best Buy and the maniacs were out there at 8pm last night so I never stood a chance.
I am with Betty on this. You could not pay me to stand in line for those sales.
I have bought a few things online (mostly gifts for others) but that is about it.

Congratulations on succumbing to the corporate brainwashing ! Shopping on a Thanksgiving Day has now become our new tradition. Pretty soon we'll all be brainwashed into dispensing with the Thanksgiving festivities altogether and devoting the whole day to shopping. Apparently, Black Friday is now a 2-day national holiday.
Americans are sheep. That is all.
Thanks, siny! And Happy F*CKing Holidays to you and your family!!!

5 Reasons to Skip Black Friday Sales

I got pretty much all my holiday shopping done in a couple of hours and we saved a grand total of $1,500 so I'd say it was a pretty successful night and I managed to get some great things for people id never be able to afford otherwise.
And I could care less what you think about us "greedy American sheep". I'd rather be that than a classless whatever-you-are.

Jordan, if you are going to quote me, please quote me correctly. I did not say "greedy American sheep", I said "Americans are sheep".
And I hate to tell you this, but you could have gotten the same bargains without having to wait 3 hours in line to get into Target on a Thanksgiving Day.
And I hate to tell you this, oh all knowing one, but no I couldn't. I'm smart enough to do a lot of price checking before I do something like this. So thanks for your concern about how I spend my time and money but you can spend that energy on something else now. Like your annual family Christmas circle jerk.
It's not my thing either. But, I'm assuming the stores near me should be dead later in the morning, so maybe it wouldn't be so bad. I'm still traumatized from a trip to Circuit City a few years ago. It also does bother me a bit that Walmart was opened at 10pm last night. But, I don't like that tore anyway.

braved the lines and got me some Blu-rays from Wal Mart and Target and a cheapo camcorder from Kohls... all for me! haha... I do Black Friday EVERY year.. I don't care how annoying it is.. it's like a tradition for me now!
I only did it my last year in the US and I LOVED it. I knew a few things I wanted and got them all. Other than that, I just strolled around and found some little, out of the ad, deals. I had a blast. Last night I was SUPER jealous of anyone going. Of course, I am taking advantage of some online deals to ship to my grandmother's today. :)
I have an annual tradition where on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving I make a good size deposit into my checking account.I usually start putting $$$ aside starting late summer. $10 in a change jar. Loose change in a coffee can. I take bottles and cans back to the store once a year. This year I had over $300 plus my paycheck. I then sit home on Black Friday and do my shopping online.Black Friday has made me somewhat reclusive but it is so relaxing. I tip my hat to those brave enough to go out into the madness.

Knocking down old ladies? I would be very surprised if any old ladies stay up that late or have the desire or energy to join in the fray.

"Black Friday is when you rush out to buy more stuff like a maniac, just hours after you spent a day giving thanks for all you already have." - Ruth Buzzi
I don't see a problem with that. It's basically a food product, right?
So far,no deaths this Black Friday.

I am definitely not a shopper and I do most of my stuff online. Got some stuff done today but with the exception of my father, nobody in my immediate family is specifically asking for gifts as of right now (my mother is the hardest nut to crack and I have always second-guessed the gifts I have gotten her over the years). Well, actually, my sister wants cold hard cash and that can frankly wait. So I shopped for some best friends and found great deals. All of this happened after I got off work. The grocery store is like a wasteland the day after Thanksgiving. I got to leave a lot earlier because of it. Our version of Black Friday, the day before, was insanity.
Jordan, you're probably the only person I "know" who went for it. Glad it worked out for you, and I hope you didn't sustain or cause injury, but Black Friday needs to be amended somehow so that people don't turn into primates at the sight of a door opening.
I was so jealous of my friends who were shopping yesterday. lol I ended up hitting Old Navy's online sales today and had three things in my basket until my wife got home. It quickly changed to 15. We got everything delivered for under $150. We got jeans, sweatshirts, dresses, maternity clothes. There were some great deals. We got stuff we won't need for a while, but we only get to the US once a year, so we're allowed some wishful thinking.
JerseyGirl2,does Old Navy offer free shipping? I went to their site and did see if they did or not. Most places are offering free shipping and that makes a big difference.
Free shipping if you spend over $50. The only crappy part is my family lives in Tennessee where the tax is 9.75%. Good times.
Jeans are all $15. There are some great deals.
Thanks. Still, that's not a bad deal.

I think I found my favorite Black Friday Mayhem story.
Women punching each other . . . over yoga pants . . . at Victoria's Secret.
It is to laugh.
