"Dear Fans,
I am going to start writing this column now as often as possible. The reason being is so I can talk directly to you, my fans, who have stuck by me & who continue to support me. Also, I'm not going to be as busy as my Mom. She's running behind my sister like crazy! I am also going to take some time off to enjoy life. I've actually learned to say "NO!" With this newly found freedom, its like people don't know how to act around me. Should we talk to her like we did when she was 16 or like the Icon everyone says she is? My prerogative right now is to just chill & let all of the other overexposed blondes on the cover of Us Weekly be your entertainment... GOOD LUCK GIRLS!! I'm sorry that my life seemed like it was all over the place the past 2 years, it's probably because IT WAS! I understand now what they mean when they talk about child stars. Going & going & going is all I've ever known since I was 15 years old. It's amazing what advisors will push you to do, even if it means taking a naive, young, blonde girl & putting her on the cover of every magazine.
I know now that my knee gave out on me this past summer so that I would have no choice but to stop. My body was shutting down and needed rest. It's funny how the Man upstairs works. Right now, I have to go-- I really want to watch "Saved" with Mandy Moore and re-runs of "Sex and the City." I want to enjoy all of the simple things that I missed over the past few years due to working way too much.
Being married is GREAT and I can't wait to start my family! There is so much change going on right now... not only with me, but in the world, as well. So, the next time you see my face, hear one of my songs or even if I'm the topic of your next conversation, please remember that times are changing & so am I.
Love always, Britney
P.S. I look forward to writing you all again soon. Kevin and I are finally able to take our Honeymoon!! "

Wow, that's it? That's her supposed effort that made her feel as she was at Harvard? Bravo!
Seriously, Britney, you tried to cause all this hype and charge $30 to read your letter? To tell us that your knee is bad (well, duh) and you're going to be taking a break? Take all the breaks you want! Geez, it was just all some media stunt.

Whoa...
I am oddly impressed. I didn't think Britney could be that deep.

Posted: 10/17/04 at 12:40pmwell just look at it...it's so deep just look at it, using big word like 'prerogative'. Wait we must remember that times are changing & so am she. it seems so fake. and it is real checked britney spears.com and that the letter. Its laughable that if made her feel like she was in Harvard, i mean look at the letter's length, a little over half a page if that took her a week and a half to write Harvard, i think not, some Harvard Community College maybe.

Posted: 10/17/04 at 2:05pmFirst of all Millie, the letter is free for anyone to read on her website. If you are not a fan why are you reading a letter that is addressed "to fans" anyway? Keep your negativity to yourself. No one forced you to read or click on this topic.

I think the only reason she threw the phrase "my prerogative" in there was to promote her song. So much for taking a break....
oh wait, I don't give a f*ck!

Posted: 10/17/04 at 2:10pmso if you don't give a f*ck why did you take the time to post on this topic? Please explain the logic...

You know when i went to see Bette in concert she made a wonderful comment. After one of her numbers she stopped to talk to the crowd and was out of breath, she commented. "woo let me catch my breath, see that's what happens if you sing live while you dance britney....oops I said it again!"
Can we send this no talent into obscurity so I never have to see her trailer park, zit ridden face or her, I wish I was black "husband"?

well i like to read most of the threads ... and then i saw the statement about why she'd use a word like "prerogative" and the answer seemed very clear to me, so I decided to reply
then i remembered that i could care less about britney spears ...
thanks though...

Posted: 10/17/04 at 2:47pmWell for someone who cares less you sure care enough to post twice on my Britney thread :) I love Britney and after meeting her in person (which i'm sure most of you never have) it is clear that she is a very nice, smart girl who has been ripped apart by tabloids and media. Remember all you know of her is the "image" the the media has filtered to you and there is a real person behind that. But then again i'm sure you could care less and need to get back to eating potato chips on your couch. Updated On: 10/17/04 at 02:47 PM

Posted: 10/17/04 at 3:02pmWow. You've met Britney. You're the coolest person ever. You're my hero. And you can't spell potato. Even cooler. Thats right I'll get back to eating "potatoe chips" on my couch. You really stabbed me in the heart with that one.

......uh
I mean, WHAT?!
THIS is the life-changing letter? This is her trip to Harvard? Sweet be-jesus. Whoa. Nice plug for the single too
I respect the need for her to take time off--I doubt any of us can imagine what it's like to be pimped out to the media, but the girl is not even 23! Go to college! Actually get involved with your own charities! Why this urge for babies, babies?!
(For the record, it's "couldn't care less", not "could care less.")

Posted: 10/17/04 at 4:12pmI've heard her say in the past that most of her friends are married with babies. That's where and how she was brought up. To start your family early. Everyone has the option to do what they want when they want, no? Isn't that what fighting for gay rights is about? Let her do what she wants - why do you all constantly judge her so harshly? Would you want people judging you that way? This is America. She is a person too.
