re: BroadwayWorld Member 'Survivor' Official Thread

i'm personally glad there isn't one tonight, cuz i can play tomorrow during the day. The problem with evening rounds is most of might be doing, rehearsing, or seeing a show. i'm okay with varying times, however.

re: BroadwayWorld Member 'Survivor' Official Thread

Since the team is consolidated, I'd like to give people more time to get back to me. Each vote is critical at this point, with everyone up on the chopping block.

I'm willing to revisit the timing of the challenges. I am also considering other types of challenges than "fastest fingers" trivia. I'm sure you will find the next challenge interesting and thought provoking. It will last for 24 hours, but you won't have to be logged on right at 1 pm to complete it.

So, there will be no challenge tonight.

With your votes tonight, I will be giving you 3 time choices. The time with the most votes will be our new gameplay time. If you are unable to make the time, don't fear, because all of the challenges will not be "fastest finger" challenges.

re: BroadwayWorld Member 'Survivor' Official Thread

Would around 7pm be better for you, TwoStep? It's before most shows start, and it won't be a problem for those of us who have classes and such during the day.
ETA: sorry, keaton, i kinda missed that you said you would give us the 3 time choices. When will those choices be listed, and when are we supposed to vote?

re: BroadwayWorld Member 'Survivor' Official Thread

7 pm EST sounds like a pretty good time...for some time zones it will still be while people are at work, but for no time zones might it make theatre work difficult.

But i like the option of a challenge that is not about being fastest. The caveat, of course, is then the "winning" might become more subjective.

EDIT: i'm still waiting to hear whether i vote someone off or not FOR THIS PAST ROUND.

So far the voting tally for times is:

11:00 am EDT
4:30 pm EDT - 2 votes
9:00 pm EDT - 2 votes

(PS- I work in the theatre, too... so evenings are difficult, but not impossible)

re: BroadwayWorld Member 'Survivor' Official Thread

I really enjoyed the two challenges a day. The game really moved along that way, but with scheduling conflicts, I'm having trouble finding two times in a day that work for people.

As of now, there will be one daily challenge. The goal is to be in the evening. I will post the time of the next challenge with the results of the prior challenge. They will all be in the evening after 5 pm EDT but not later than 9 pm EDT.

For instance, today's challenge will be posted at 1:00 pm and due at 8:00 pm at the latest. Keep posted for the times. Schedule will be based on player preference (and the host's schedule).

Today's challenge involves creativity...
You will be writing a "fan fiction" story. A panel of 2-3 judges (made up of impartial site members) will be judging them based on creativity (40%), quality (20%), and fit to the characters/show that they are based on (40%).

Criteria for the stories:
(Word count removed)
Based on a Broadway show of recent decades.

They must be PM-ed to me by 8:00 pm EDT tonight. I will then remove the names, and post them on a thread for rating by my panel of judges.

Good luck, Survivors!

re: BroadwayWorld Member 'Survivor' Official Thread

Here's how it will work.

At 8 pm tonight, I will post the entries on another thread. Anonymously.

The judges panel, (3 non-Survivor people already signed up so far) will read them and give me a score of 1 to 10 on each of the 3 factors (Creativity, Quality, and Fit). The entry with the highest score will be declared the winner.

If the author chooses to take credit for their entry they are free to do so after the winner is determined. (This to assure no favoritism)

Note: "Fan Fiction" is a broad term. Just about any type of prose is accepted. Be as creative as you like, just try to make it familiar and related to the story we know. (An extension of a character's journey for example - Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom producing an Ice Show in Brazil).

re: BroadwayWorld Member 'Survivor' Official Thread

In regards to the word limit... Please keep the entries concise. I initially included a 500 word limit, but I will allow it to be extended within reason. I just recieved an entry that was over 1,000 words... but it needed to be. This is acceptable. Just keep it short and sweet, with as much as you need to convey the story.
