In Round 7, The Ovations were forced to vote off a member. Carl Magnum, the tribe has spoken. The tally is as follows.

Carl Magnum - 2 votes
Liam - 1 vote
Justice - 1 vote
#1Elphie

Round 8 is dedicated to one of the host's favorite plays!

re: BroadwayWorld Member <i>'Survivor'</i> Official Thread

1. An Inspector Calls was written by whom.
2. What year was the play written.
3. In the original play, what is the Inspector's name?
4. What romantic 'event' are they celebrating at the beginning of the play?

Good luck tribes.

i'm hoping "year first produced" will equal "year written."

I was wondering about that, too....I think my answer was "year written," not produced. Because there is a difference...I don't know. We'll see.

hate to quibble, but i've found several sources of 1945, not 1946...

I found conflicting dates, TwoStep. I wasn't sure what was right, and I think ckeaton is checking.
But you were quite quick yourself!

"Seven decades after tonight's playwright became the first President of its predecessor, one could hardly open the new Priestley Centre for the Arts with anything other than a play by J.B. Priestley, but this play is worth reviving at any time; in fact it does not require 'revival' as it has constantly stood the test of time since its premiere in 1945."

Source: http://www.mypriestley.org.uk/note.php?id=inspect3+1+1

one would hope we may count The Priestley Centre for the Arts as accurate about their namesake's work!

According to http://www.jbpriestley.co.uk/bio.php, An Inspector Calls was first performed in Russia, in 1945. indicating that it was written before 1946. Though another page of the site lists his works in order of performance with this play in 1946.

If anyone can find a more reliable source, I would appreciate it.

i have also found several references to "written shortly after WW II in 1945" but none i can verify as well as The Priestly Centre source.

i think both ELPHIE and i should get to vote a competitor off (and have immunity from each other's banishment)!

oh ok I see how it is. I'm the only one to be here and answer the question last night. I get it right, and only miss it by a second and I get cut? Whatever! How about cutting someone who does nothing? I guess that would make too much sence. I call BS.

i also concede that i assumed 1945 was West End, and put that wording in my answer, which may eliminate my response even if the year is proved accurate.

MAGNUM got cut?!?!? i thought i saw his name still on the first post of the thread, is it not accurate?!?!?

EDIT: i see now the first post has been edited, probably when this question was posted. i hold my hat over my head to honor the passing from the field of formidable foe CARL MAGNUM. Has he met my wife?

"Popular drama of 1946", does not give us a year written. I am inclined to go with 1945 based on what I have since read, even though my original source (a fan quiz on the 'net - not entirely reliable) said 1946.

Unless we can find an authoratative source for "year written", I see two options.

a) disqualify question 2 of this challenge and continue.
b) new question to be given in the next 10 minutes.

Please let me know what your thoughts are.

Carl Magnum, there was no BS involved. You were the victim of an 'unconfirmed' alliance (in the all-seeing host's opinion) that has been wreaking havoc on The Ovations since day 1.

Carl Magnum, I'm sorry to see you go, but I must point out that technically you haven't contributed to this team more than anyone else. You haven't won a round for us (Justice and I are the only ones who have), and that's all that really counts.

perhaps Magnum should decide how to resolve this round's quandary. Did any other Ovations even participate? a non-playing alliance is a troublesome thing.
