President Bush has appointed anti-abortion activist Dr. W. David Hager to the Food and Drug Administration's Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee. Dr. Hager is the author of As Jesus Cared for Women: Restoring Women Then and Now, which blends biblical accounts of Christ healing women with case studies from Hager's practice. Dr. Hager is a practicing OB/GYN who describes himself as "pro-life" and refuses to prescribe contraceptives to unmarried women. Read more here.

This is STUPID!
JUST PLAIN STUPID!
Well...perhaps W should just appoint Jesus himself...
What's next? A HUD secretary that refuses to rent to unmarried or gay couples?
It's all sick and twisted. And unfortunately, when the $h!t hits the fan, and it will, it will be at the cost of innocent Americans who suffer from ignorant choices made by this administration and its platform.

Send an email. Call the White House. Send this to your friends. Complacency can't be the order of the day just because we lost the election.

Because we all knew that was going to happen...
::rolls eyes::
If a drug was passed, can it be recalled under moral stances? I don't think so. There is no way he will be able to take RU-486 off the market unless he can prove it causes harm to women. Hell, that's an emergency contraceptive. It's not an abortion pill.
I repeat: Send in your emails, calls, letters.

That pisses me off. No one has the right to tell a woman what to do with her body. And only to unmarried women? What the F*CK does he think that's gonna do? People will go on having sex, and now even more unwanted pregnancies will happen. And they have NO RIGHT to force religion down anyone's throat with this bullSH*T about Christianity. Don't try to tell me what's best for me.
This is disgusting. Trust me Borstal, I WILL send a letter to both all of my friends and the White House.

But you see, the health threat in being promiscuous is real. It's not just a Christian value.
true westopher... that is where education is so important..but not everyone wanting to use contraceptives are promiscuous..and even if they are, it is certainly not anyone else's business..
btw...sorry for prematurely calling you Rodney...
But you see, the health threat in being promiscuous is real. It's not just a Christian value.
Then I don't see how not giving out contraceptives will help the situation.
I believe the implication is that giving out contraceptives that merely rduce the chance of pregnancy encourages promiscuity... have fun without consequences..
I disagree, but that is an argument I've heard before

It's the only one I can see.
And hey, apology accepted, hah.
I believe the implication is that giving out contraceptives that merely rduce the chance of pregnancy encourages promiscuity... have fun without consequences..
Hmmm....I guess illness becomes a form of punishment, then. Health is a privilege only to those who follow a certain lifestyle? What a sad and cruel perspective.

No, it's that by giving out contraception you are encouraging sex. Beleive me, I am all for pre-marital sex, I just enjoy playing the counter point. Updated On: 11/9/04 at 08:03 PM
I agree, Blue...
Here's a related story I just read:
Misleading Info About Abortions Given
In my World History class, we were just discussing how during the Classic Greek times, they brought up an idea called "secularism" which means that government and religion are SEPARATE(!) and that this was a very "Western" and modern idea. It's makes me so disappointed to see the Shrub bringing religion back into the gov. So sad. And sick.

A lot of things W's doing are unconstitutional. Bringing religion into his choices for our country (banning gay marriage, no abortion, no stem cell research, and now this) is infringing upon our rights to believe as we want. Christianity is no ground for lawmaking.
