He felt compelled to again divide the straight people from the gay -- the so-called freedom seller, liberty-exporter took yet another stand against at least 10% of the population. Not by name. Not by standing against gay people. But by making it very, very easy for all those who truly loathe gay men and women to demonize them, to separate themselves from ... among many others ... Leonard Bernstein and Tennesee Williams, to name but two people whose lives give a board like this a reason to exist.
To those of you who post here who support this president, and his tactics, always remember a few folks who George W. Bush considers not his equal, morally and otherwise. Lenny and Tenn, haunt us, and keep us aware. And angry. Very angry.

Posted: 2/2/05 at 11:10pmPresident Bush was inspiring as he always is. All that comes from the liberals is doom, gloom, and depression. Poor things need a therapist.

Inspiring?
Ignorance is far from inspiring...
And that "Doom gloom and depression" crap...
Maybe if things weren't swept under the carpet by conservatives, then there would be no doom, gloom, or depression!!!

I just love how people judge others and put them under classifications of Liberal and conservative.
I also love how none of them are ever right or wrong.
Me? I'm an apathetic Liberal who feels that if it does not involve me, then I don't care.
Go ahead and judge me on that, because it is just so telling of the kind of person I am....

Urrrghh I wish everyone would just stop hating on our President. What did he ever do to make you people despise him so much?!
Just because he believes the wonderful marriage that God ordained to be of a man and a woman, and because he believes that killing babies is wrong?--that's why he so despicable???

I didn't see the address, actually.... I had a late class. I'll read about it in the morning.

It's more than that, addict.
It's not just about what HE feels is right or wrong, or what HE feels he can push upon us as well as other countries.
It's about a man who talks out of his ass.
A man who preaches on family values, yet can't control his daughters' substance abuse (and he says that single parent homes raise dysfunctional children).
A man who will fight battles overseas, whether it be war or AIDS, but cannot do anything to help those in his own backyard. A man who lives his life by the Bible, but is hypocritical in supporting the death penalty.
A man who makes up words that make no sense.
A man who truly does not know what he's doing.
And finally, a man who I don't want defining my true love for the man that I spend my life with.
And God didn't "ordain" marriage between a man and a woman, the King James version of the Bible did.

Heh...well it won't really matter to me what they say because they cannot change my perspective.
I actually didn't watch it either--too much homework--but I just had to add that in, and unfortunately stir up a lot of libs.
We might as well look up to the guy who's leading our country

Posted: 2/3/05 at 12:14amJustice, you're thinking awefully high of yourself. The President is very smart - has an MBA, flew fighter jets, etc. etc. And he's kicking the asses of liberal whiners. The "stupidity" comments by liberals has gotten quite humerous now - as with all their other cooky statements. The liberals have become so filled with hate that they would love to see any amount of destruction against America or the world if it would somehow make our President look bad. The liberals have made the democratic party irrelevant to politics, and serves the sole purpose of providing entertainment to rational thinking Americans.

I wanted to just say something and leave it all alone, but this I must correct: Bush hypocritical on the death penalty? Have ya read the Bible? {Genesis 9:6}
God commanded the death penalty for anyone who murdered another person.
And HELLO!! Where do you think the Bible came from? Sure men wrote it, but did you think all those divine thoughts came from them?
Bush is a human in a high position. Just because he is the President doesn't mean his own life is perfect! He's a good man who prays to the Creator of the universe, which shows why he is in office for his second term.

Posted: 2/3/05 at 12:24amOk, I am Christian........I wanted to state this before I continued. Ok, religion SHOULD not be what gets someone elected. Have you heard of the Crusades and all of the internal fighting that happened in Europe during the dark ages and after between Catholics, Protestants, and Muslims. When religion gets mixed in with politics, terrible things happen. People left Europe to start a new life in America to have freedom of religion but when America tries to become a "Christian Nation" it goes completly against what the Constitution says. We should elect someone based on their qualifications and our faith on whether or not he will be a great leader for our country. NOT WHAT RELIGION HE IS!!!

Adamaddict, are you implying that God got him re-elected?
And I don't know if he's hypocritical of the death penalty, but it brings up a question I've had for a while: Why is one form of murder okay to him (death penalty) and another is not (abortion)? Either way, someone ends up dead, correct?

Chicago:
Flying a fighter jet makes one smart? And an MBA? Lots of people have MBA's. That doesn't prove intelligence. It proves that they got through college.
I'm not gonna debate politics because no matter what, you are gonna be right in your defense, and I'm gonna be right in mine, etc. and vice versa. But, lemme just say this: Conservatives are SO bent up on making this country "right" that they are forgetting that we are a land of the FREE. I have the freedom to be gay, as well as the freedom to raise a child. And no one, under any circumstances should interfere with MY rights as an American Citizen!
And addict:
I don't want to get into another religious debate because I will end up pissing a lot of people off again. But, i'm gonna say this. The New Testament and the Old Testament are two different books. Christians work on the teachings of Christ, and Christ himself said "Judge not less ye be judged", he also said "He without sin cast the first stone". Obviously, you don't realise that there are many things in the Old testament that we have disregarded in our lifestyles: (i.e.: Incest, sacrifices, etc.)
And as for the written Text. Do your history on the subject. Most of the New Testament are pharacies, written as LAW by the rulers of the land. Also, when King James had the Monks translate the Bible, not only did he tell the monks to leave certain things out, but also added rules and regulations for the way people live their lives. I am not making this up, as there is factual evidence.
And third, Bush is not in his second term because he PRAYS to the creator of the Universe. That's a statement of ignorance!

Posted: 2/3/05 at 12:35amJust to add to what Justice said about the "smart" comment. He got a C at an Ivy League School. A C there is like an F anywhere else. It is not acceptable. He got a diploma by the skin of his teeth. I am not saying he isn't smart, since I do not know him personally.......I am just saying what he did in college.

I too am a Christian. Right. America is a place of freedom, including freedom of religion. Any person, whether President or not, can have the right in this country to believe whatever he wants. Now if he is leading the country and has to make decisions based upon his opinions, then what do you want him to do? Kerry believed that babies should be killed and that men and woman should marry their own sexes, but nobody was complaining about that when it might've become a law if he were President.
When I said "he prays...which shows why he's in office" I meant he relies on God, and God had favor with him in having him run the most blessed country in the world.

And Spider is right about the crusades, etc.
Why did religion and worshipping Christ cause so many Wars, and deaths throughout the ages? And I'm not talking about Christians being killed, I'm talking about Rulers who killed people who did not follow their beliefs. There is a lot of negative things that the churches like to forget about their own histories.
