Bush's State of the Union

Posted: 2/3/05 at 1:07amBut why would terrorists be so obvious as to walk into a public library and check out a book on bomb-making when they could learn from other people or over the internet? That's like wearing a giant "I'm A Terrorist!" sign on your back.

There is nothing in the consitution about separation of government and books LOL.
Right to bear arms - now that's a right that is truly being stripped from us.
#77re: Bush's State of the Union
Posted: 2/3/05 at 1:09amOkay, explain that to me, because I seem to remember a ban on assault weapons was just lifted.
#78re: Bush's State of the Union
Posted: 2/3/05 at 1:10amYet another assumption. I never said this was in the constitution. But nonetheless, the point is if you have the *right* to practice your own religion, who is the head of state to impose his views on ALL?

Posted: 2/3/05 at 1:10amRose, not so much at the Federal level but at the city level. Chicago is a perfect example.
#80re: Bush's State of the Union
Posted: 2/3/05 at 1:11amOf what? I'm not familiar with Chicago politics.
#81re: Bush's State of the Union
Posted: 2/3/05 at 1:12amHey, ya know what? Nazi Germany did the exact same thing. But, enough of this bull****. I am getting tired of ignorant bastards who can't get their heads out of their asses long enough to realize that the constitution is completely being torn to shreds. If you think "the right to bear arms" is the most important and most valued part of the constitution than something is completely wrong with you. That is it for me in this thread unless I happen to stumble upon something where I feel that I need to respond. Until that time, ladies and gentlemen........
#82re: Bush's State of the Union
Posted: 2/3/05 at 1:12amHe's not imposing his religous views on anyone other than himself. The country was founded on God, and that's what guides the majority of the people in America be it right or wrong.
#83re: Bush's State of the Union
Posted: 2/3/05 at 1:14amSpider, how is the consitution being ripped to shreds? What freedoms have you lost? Please don't give me the library book thing again. And if you're a terrorist, you don't deserve to be protected by our rights.
#84re: Bush's State of the Union
Posted: 2/3/05 at 1:15amNo, this country was not founded on God. This country was founded on the Constitution. I thought the British left England in the first place to get away from the religious constraints they faced and wanted to found a place where people could do as they please.

CBF... you sound like an ignorant inbred redneck hillbilly. By any chance, have you seen this rodent anywhere?

Chicago, you could at least pretend to be a respectful debater in this.
First of all, the country was founded in God, and people used this to marginalize others, in Nazi Germany, and to justify slavery. Second of all, how is he not imposing his religious views on others? What's the basis of his ideology that marriage should only be a union between a man and a woman?

Type A - that's his belief, he's not imposing it on anyone. The voters are the ones who are imposing their beliefs in the states. And, I'm always respectful when it's earned

OK, I've had too much fun stirring up the liberal hornets nest in this room tonight. Off to bed.
Have a good night everyone

As am I, and I don't feel it's been earned in this case. As I said to Adamaddict, neither of us are going to convince the other to change their minds, so let's just agree to disagree, shall we?
And CurtainUp2: Who is that guy?

Don't say it if you don't mean it.
Good night.
PS. His justification is not just that this is what his voters want - it is that HE believes that the "santity of marriage" can only be protected should it be with a heterosexual couple.

Posted: 2/3/05 at 1:24amBack for a second and I am not even going to touch what Chicago directed at me. I am going to say that we had an argument/debate and none of us are trying to tell the other what you should think or believe but when stupidity raises it's ugly head, it must be dealt with. But, goodnight to all and I hope everyone has great broadway dreams.

Posted: 2/3/05 at 1:25amRose, that's the infamous Republican (amongst other things), RodneyK. He was always respectful towards me, however he rubbed many (liberal or not) the wrong way.

Good night, dear Spider.
Believe it or not, I don't dislike Republicans (my very own Guido Contini being one of them), but sometimes incoherency and poor arguments need to be addressed head on, no?

"CurtainUp - another bitter liberal filled with hate"
CBF (aka RodentK)...
Actually, you're the one who sounds full of hate. Why else would you be trying to impose your rigid narrow minded beliefs on the rest of us? Why do you care whether two members of the same sex are allowed to marry? How does that effect your life? It's your weasel of president that supports a war (aka liberation), which results in the killing of thousands of innocent men, women, and children. And you're the one who's worried about your precious right to possess firearms being taken away. Sounds like you got some major issues to me.

It's been a wonderful yet non-persuasive debate.
But I've gotta get up for another stressful day in 10th grade tomorrow!
G*Night everyone! Try not to hate so much for no reason!
