You would need several large dump trucks to carry all the horse sh!t in that post.

If you want to end racism - stop creating or promoting websites like that!
I know! Heaven forbid people not talk about race in an uncomfortable way!
I'm not white. I'm not black either. But this list has a lot of stuff to think about.

It did make me uncomfortable in that way that racism and misinformation always does.
Even though I certainly think white privilege is a very real thing, I think articulating it with memes isn't necessarily the most accurate or informative thing to do.

Racism ends with actions. People judge you on their first impression.
Act like an articulate educated person and you are treated like one.
Dress like a Ghetto Clown with giant fake diamonds in your ears and the waistband of your pants around your thighs and you get treated like the thug you are portraying.
This applies to everyone regardless of the color of your skin, background, etc
Dress to impress get treated with respect.
Yeah. That's the American way, right?

18. White privilege means being able to dismiss entire pieces about white privilege flat out, without any personal examination.

"Because of White Privilege, you’ll never have to worry about becoming the victim of law enforcement officers." "White Privilege means not having to worry about being stopped and frisked." Really? White people never get victimized by cops?
"You can wear and act however you’d like without being labeled a thug, low life, gangster, etc." (This one really is the stupidest) Google Justin Bieber Justin Bieber Thug" and there are 3.7 million page. An yet he is still doing OK.
I'd go on by why bother?

They should have just said you won't have to be worried about disproportionately being victimized by cops.
Also, I think I agree with Brian. It's kind of like when sluts dress like sluts and get raped. If they hadn't dressed liked that, they would have been respected.

Are we talking about black sluts or white sluts?
Should we write an article on hetero privilege?
if youre white and have an accent believe me youre not priviledged
"18. White privilege means being able to dismiss entire pieces about white privilege flat out, without any personal examination."
Exactly.
There are articles written on heterosexual privilege.
Clearly not enough. "Hetero privilege" still isn't a meme. It needs a list worthy of Buzzfeed.
People have already made lists about hetero privilege Matt.
"Dress like a Ghetto Clown with giant fake diamonds in your ears and the waistband of your pants around your thighs and you get treated like the thug you are portraying. "
Nothing like refuting white privilege with some good old fashioned stereotypes! Do you actually know anyone that dresses the way you describe on a personal level Brian?

I don't understand if Matt is just being goofy or if he's just trying to derail this thread.
I'm not convinced. We need a meme list, a Facebook page, a Facebook profile, a Twitter, a catchy hashtag and links to Pinterest and Instagram. We need to be Gawkered, Buzzfed, Salonified and Perezzzed. Then a reality series on E! Without those, it doesn't exist.
I feel like I'm not understanding anybody's point in this thread.
The temptation to pour gasoline on this thread and strike a match has been too, too great. So I'll just echo Reg's point and back away slowly.
The original reason I posted this is because I was surprised to see it on Buzzfeed. Usually all I see on my Facebook news feed from Buzzfeed is lists about cats. So I was surprised to see them post something that was bound to be controversial. And judging from the reaction it's gotten here, it is.
I agree that Buzzfeed and memes may not be the BEST way to address topics like white privilege. But I think it's good to get people talking.
I probably should have said all that in the original post but I was on the train on a way to a meeting.

I think a conversation on white privilege is really interesting. I even think it can be spurred on by a Buzzfeed listicle. I'm just not sure it can take place on BroadwayWorld.
