I feel if the Democratic Party cannot get its candidate elected after all the Republican cr*p from the last 8 years, they should disband.
Amazing speech, I've waited 8 years for Bush to make something remotely close to this to the American people.
"These people are a part of me. And they are a part of America, this country that I love."
This is so eloquent and important. We have not heard words like these for decades from our leadership. Corny or not, these are the anthems that will ring years from now in text books and quoted by many. As a gay Latino I live for the day when we have leaders that speak out with such sincerity and conviction about understanding and equality in our nation.
He was not chastising anyone; he was letting it be known where he stands and where we need to go. We NEED direction at this point. Yes we do. We ALL have people like this in our lives. All of us. I come from a Latin/Israeli background and have certainly heard family members, mentors, teachers, brothers, cousins, grandmas, boyfriends, all kinds saying hurtful, wrong things or made prejudiced judgments. Look at how many priests, preachers, the Pope, Rabbis, Imams that have condemned things like race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality from the pulpit.
Our own sitting president invaded a nation that did not attack us and we have candidates like Hillary Clinton and John McCain that refuse to question him and support his agenda. Thousands are dead and a nation lies in ruins. What does that say about their integrity? Meanwhile we are supposed to hate Obama because his pastor is a nutjob.
I'm disappointed with this board and reading users dismiss Obama supporters as if they were cult followers, oblivious, Pollyanna fools. Obama meets the necessary requirements to be president. How are your candidates ANY better? How? You really think Hillary and McCain are good people? Seriously do you? Do you really think we need more criminals in office? Our president is a FIGURE HEAD. We have a congress; he/she has a cabinet and is surrounded by many that support the government. I hate to say it but Bush's IQ is not the reason we are at war or why the economy in the toilet. He has people, just like Clinton and Regan did.
You wanna get dirty? Hillary and her husband accepted $10 million dollars from the Saudi royals. They rule an oppressive theocracy that condemns women to live as lesser human beings makes a mockery of human rights and deny most basic political freedoms. So Hillary takes money from them? Meanwhile she talks about the great things she's done for women in THIS country. Fantastic. Check out the Carlyle Group.
John McCain clueless as he is took the support Rev. Hagey. A man who preaches the Prosperity Doctrine and thinks Hurricane Katrina was caused by a gay pride parade. This anti-Catholic, anti-Muslim, anti-Semite has referred to Catholicism as the "great whore" and thinks Jews will be left behind after the rapture. He also thinks the only want to jump start the end of the world is to invade Iran and that our presidency is god's will. John McCain does not stand a chance. Anyone remember the Bush camp calling him gay and calling him out for having a "black" baby. He's dunzo. Do some homework, Keiting 5 anyone?
Hillary just needs to step the f*ck down as she does not have the math and rally the base. She is the one that is ripping this party apart, if she was in Obama's position she would have called for his concession long ago.
Really excellent way to continue the unity, mejusthavingfun. Not shocking though.
You are flat out wrong that either candidate should be dropping out yet. Both have much to claim for being the nominee from this primary.
And Hillary Clinton does not support Bush's policies.
Me, actually the Saudi Royal family donated to the Clinton Library - and gave the money to Bill, not Hillary. A bit of a technicality, but since facts sometimes challenge you, I thought I would point that out since the last time you made allegations about Hillary, it was full of factual errors and assumptions.
And, what planet are you on when you claim that Hillary supports his agenda? Yes, she voted to give him authorization to go to war, but since in office, both she and Obama have identical records when it comes to the war in Iraq.
Obama does not have the delegates to win on his own either - should he step down? Neither can win without the supers.

BTW Jerby, you're fantastic. Before this all began I used to love watching your videos. Time I got back to that.

1. Clinton gets painted together with McCain. Yet, no one offers any proof that they are knit from the same cloth. Any proof of this?
2. Obama certainly has the experience necessary, and Clinton has the change needed. The question is which person's policies you agree with more. And there ain't much of a difference.
3. I realy despise those who claim Hillary is "power-hungry". That is the most patriarchal thing that could POSSIBLY be said about her. When's the last time you heard a man called "power-hungry". It's the devil term they use against women over and over and over. And it needs to stop.
4. I continue to be impressed with how evenly Obama speaks on divisive topics. I think that is admirable. Clinton should follow his lead.
5. I will be voting third party in the general election. However, I do like both Clinton and Obama.
"And Hillary Clinton does not support Bush's policies. "
She voted for the war.
She does not support impeachment of Bush.
She voted for the Lieberman - Kyl resolution.
She has not apologized for the war.
Tell me JRB how do you feel about her accepting money from the Saudi Royal family?
"You are flat out wrong that either candidate should be dropping out yet. Both have much to claim for being the nominee from this primary. "
She can't win the popular vote or the delegates. She can win Pennsylvania and the rest of the primaries AND NOT WIN. It's over, and I feel she is doing this on purpose so she can run again in 2012.
Seriously. I stopped when Barack and Hillary asked us to--why don't you?
It happened when the Obama supporters and the left-wing bloggers fell sucker to a level of Clinton Hatred hitherto seen only on the right-wing.
PalJoey, at least wait until the next page to contradict yourself, so your calls for "unity" aren't so blatantly hypocritical.

How is that degree of separation acceptable, but Obama's pastor, not himself, making racist statements isn't?

No, silly, we want a cuddly, unambitious presidenent. One who will put band-aids on our wounds and bake us Amish friendship bread!
I thank you, arts. I'm glad that our rough and tumble debates haven't spilled over into other areas. :)
me--I believe your "facts" were disproved by youwant.
I think Hillary and Barack are both amazing people. I am thrilled that either will be my nominee and will be making history. I am thrilled they could become President.
And, you are just wrong in your estimation of the primary. If Michigan and Florida re votes were held today, she would still win them. If you count Michigan and Florida, she is ahead in the popular vote. I dunno if she would be in delegates as one hears various things from different pundits. After winning Penn, she will have won THE 3 major swing states and most of the major states. She also wins in rural areas. Any superdelegate is going to have to consider these very important facts.
They BOTH have a right to see this out, so knock off your crap.
OS - I was correcting a false statement by mejust.
Do I like that Bill Clinton received funding for the Saudis for his Presidential Library? No. But it is not analogous to a 20 year affiliate to with a specific pastor who has been described as like family.
Apples and oranges.

Duh. That is correct, but why would they even accept this money? They accepted this money, they need to make this clear to the public which has not been done and their tax returns need to be made public. Bill and Hillary are MARRIED last time I checked that means they own everything jointly.
Actually, it depends on the state. Some states do not have community property rules. Moreover, gifts to one spouse are usually considered sole and separate property, unless co-mingled with the community estate. So, no, they may not own everything jointly.
And, I am honestly not sure that they would "own" his presidential library together.
I do find it amusing that you say "Duh" when your post made no mention of what the donation was for.
"Do I like that Bill Clinton received funding for the Saudis for his Presidential Library? No. But it is not analogous to a 20 year affiliate to with a specific pastor who has been described as like family. "
Analogous? The Suadi Arabian monarch is state sponsor of terrorism. We have a whole thread here about how Barack needs to disown this man for his hateful remarks and here you have the Clintons taking money from a group that carries them out.
Honest question: How is donating to a Presidential Library deemed to be a campaign donation to Hillary?
Me, I find taking money from the Saudi's and putting it into a presidential library a little less personal than sitting in church every Sunday. And, I honestly don't have a huge problem with what Obama said and the words of his pastor. There is some truth to what was said, and the perspective and experiences that represent his views are far different than mine. My issue with Obama has more to do with his experience (or lack thereof) and the fear that he could be the next Jimmy Carter.
Do I like the fact that he took the money from the Saudi's for his library - no. But, since Presidential Libraries are privately funded, and it was after he was out of office, so I am not going to abandon his wife's campaign because of his acceptance of a gift.
Apples and oranges to me. If they are identical to you, so be it.

Mejust:
When have I bashed? I made reference to the fact that you failed include all the facts in your post, and have done that before, is that bashing?
She remains married to a man who has many flaws and failings. And for some, her refusal to divorce him after the Lewinsky scandal will be her undoing.
Nice to know that your problems with Hillary stem from her husband more than from her.
And with that, I am going back to work. You and I will not see eye to eye on this, so this is not going to help either of us.

People will vote FOR this man! EXACTLY!!
The problem is you're asking people to vote AGAINST Hillary. These candidates are strong enough to not need anyone to trash them. Discuss the issues, instead. Stop with the ad hoc.
