Not hateful. Underwood underwhelming.

Morning peeps! I thoroughly enjoyed SOM last night. I would have changed only 2 things, Maria and the Captain. Where was the chemistry? I didn't see it. Plus their acting left much to be desired. Even Carrie's beauty and gorgeous voice couldn't make me fall in love with her Maria. The Captain bored me. He needs to remain a vampire. Fried-ay

I just wanted to add that the sets were gorgeous and the transitions breath taking.

Morning!

D2 - couldn't have said it better myself :)

I recorded SOM since I was out last night. But pretty much everyone on my news feed had the same thoughts.

Happy Friday. first one I am working in a month. weird.

SOMMS: I knew it was Tink!

Well, I for one, have made an important decision. Starting today I'm going to climb ev'ry mountain and ford ev'ry stream. Audra convinced me.

Mornin'

Tink:Fried-ay

As for SOM, the two things wrong, as Boobs pointed out, are unfortunately the two lead roles. Yes, it was beautifully produced, Benanti, Borle and McDonald (and to a lesser extent, Kristine Nielsen) walked away with the show, and that score is sublime. But ultimately the show rests on Maria and the Captain, and this had a very shaky foundation to rest upon.

And as for Underwood -- I feel for her. She is an untried, unpolished and untrained girl who was asked to take on a role she wasn't prepared or equipped to take on, and in front of millions of people on live television. I don't blame her for doing it; I do blame the "suits" who hedged their bets on a "name" for the sake of ratings at the expense of the art (again), and I also blame the "creatives," especially those at R&H, for signing off on the casting.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

I absolutely agree, as well. And yet.......I loved it.

I also loved it. Deet said it best as to Carrie, her spoken dialogue was community theater. But, I thought her singing was expressive and moving at times. Captain was stiff as a board and never lightened up. Audra was awesome! Mrs. Brd. cried. C15 listened to the entire show while doing homework. Kids were great and supporting cast outstanding. Thumbs up from me.

Favorite moment of this morning - C15 singing Cher in perfect falsetto! He was in a good mood as it is Friday.

I, on the other hand, was up at 4, literally have ankle pain for no reason. The old many is a psychotic asshat and delusional. We hope to cut him off at the knees today.

Happy Friday!

And, by the way, Happy Feast of St. Nicholas! We always celebrated when I was growing up and we did the same for the Moonchild when she was young. Big Christmas cookie fest here at school today, with everyone dressed up in outrageous Christmas wear. Some of these girls must have raided Mom's closet for ugly Christmas sweater.

I share this FB comment with you from a friend of mine from High School who was a total jock and never set foot in either the music or drama departments:

"I also felt transported to a different time and place and for a few hours it seemed that I was living in a simpler, calmer more relaxed world. It felt like Sunday nights a million years ago one the entire family got together to watch Disney. Hopefully it starts a remarkable trend and shift in the world of television to more musical and variety entertainment..and away form reality TV."

Now THAT is what it was all about.

True, those of us who are closer to theatre and this world have comments and very valid criticisms (agree completely, Boobs), but, in the end, people around the US tuned in to watch live theatre. That's what really matter for me. And that's why this was a win.

Moony, don't start climbing and forging until after this weekend, ok? Fried-ay

Last night kept reminding me of waiting for Lesley Ann Warren's "Cinderella" to come on TV as a child. I had that same anticipated emotion. Although certain cast members fell flat, I was caught up in the excitement of the whole experience.

Addy - Nice!

Mooney - we did not celebrate St. Nick's day in our family or anyone in Kansas that I can recall. C15 has an ugly sweater day!

I saw plenty of comments, and other than watching a few of the songs, I am waiting until I have some time to watch the entire thing.

From what I saw (which was not much admittedly), Underwood was fine when singing, it was the talking that she was not ready for.

Happy Friday Adults - trying to finish my holiday shopping this weekend, and another set of friends are in town for a play date.

Well the overnights are in and it was a HUGE ratings success. Which truthfully I am happy about. I'd be happier if we'd been given a production that had been better cast, but I'm happy it was a success.

Yeah, if this becomes a pattern, a whole new audience could be exposed to some classic musicals - that would be a good thing.

So...speaking of fancy outfits...

I ordered a long satin skirt online Sunday afternoon. I paid premium 2-day express so it would arrive by Wednesday. I need it for this weekend, so I figured if they missed the delivery date by a day, I'd still have it in time. When it STILL didn't arrive today I called the company. Seems it didn't go out until today and won't be here until Tuesday! I was livid! The least they could have done was email me and let me know that there was a FOUR day delay in shipping! I really "unleashed the Girly"!Now I get to hit the malls, looking for an alternative.

GRRRRRRRR!
