Wishing all a terrific day and week.
We finished watching a British series called "The Grand" yesterday. It's about a family run hotel in Manchester during the Twenties. 18 episodes.
Exceptional. Written by Russell T. Davies, the guy who rebooted Dr. Who. The Grand is a bit of Upstairs/Downstairs, similar to Downtown Abbey, only The Grand is better written. It was first broadcast in 1997 & 1998. One can see that DA was modeled after it.
It's available on Netflix streaming. Well worth catching if you can.
BTW, I was craving a piece of cake or a chocolate Saturday night, if anyone is interested.
Jose, I believe I read some where that now that DA has become popular inn the states they are writing a new show called The Grand. I guess they're just reviving it.
Boobs, I hadn't heard that.
The Grand available on disc on Acorn Media. One of the stars is Susan Hampshire, of The Forsyte Sage (the original series), The Pallisers, Vanity Fair and The First Churchills. Also, the first 8 episodes feature Stephen Moyer who I read is on a current HBO series True Blood.

Crappy Monday indeed, but warm in Chicago!
Can it be Saturday all over again? That was fun.
Back from a fabulous weekend back East, full of Framily and family.

Morning!
I lost both my pool matches and the Giants stunk last night. Was not the best Monday evening. And tonight is the "talk" with the boy. Can I fast forward to the weekend?

THE TALK, huh? We'll want details, you know. Email works fine for me.
And...your loss last night was Washington's gain. The whole town is buzzing. The last time they win a Mionday night game was 1997.
Somms, my cousin is looking for your cupcake recipe.

I am, too. Most of the ones I find call for brewed tea. Did you use a spice blend or did you brew the tea first?
A cook book deal with a $100,000 advance will get anyone the recipe.
what cupcakes? what did I miss?
Sunday night I happened to divulge in some chocolate an evil person gave to me. Mint truffle Hershey Kisses? Holy hot damn!
I'm semi convinced it was a mini-intervention with the goal of putting the weight back on me.....
The biggest test of willpower is not eating the peppermint bark. I swear I hear it taunting me in the middle of the night.......

The peppermint bark didn't last long. It was gone by the time the train got to Baltimore. All the kisses were gone by last night.
That's actually impressive willpower from you
Damn! I wagered on "before she checks out of the hotel room".
Mine stayed hidden until I got back home - if my mom or sister saw any of it, it would be gone. Now, it is all MINE!
