No donuts for Shira. Ever.
Should've left it.

Really? I thought it was too harsh, even for me.

It was good, Deet. You first take is always your best.
Maybe I'll wait until she makes an appearance. If she dares now.

D2 harsh?
Happy Monday!
You all are being punished with your awful weather! We had a nice pleasant weekend in the high 50's!
Now I want to know what D2 posted.
Nice to know that elitism is alive and well here on the left coast.

I'll re-post what I posted if you re-post what you posted, YWiW.
I was just thinking it was a good thing I didn't answer You's post!

Well, then - apparently money and education don't guarantee awareness.
To paraphrase Austen, "Badly done, Shira, badly done."
So, other than us in the East being water-logged, how was everyone's weekend?

I really do need to look for a new career path. We have a financial issue today, and my partner is in denial and blaming other partners when it is HIS fault!
On the one hand, why are they remaking "Mildred Pierce?"
On the other hand, KATE WINSLET!!! What an interesting choice for the role!
I wonder...
My post was basically.
"With that kind of attitude, you guys can have her."
I thought it my be a bit harsh on the wee chance that I somehow misinterpreted her sentiments.
Also, I know many middle America folks who would run full sprint screaming away from family life as depicted by Shira. I found Shira's statement either intentionally trying to elicit reactions (hopefully) or incredible insulting (hopefully not).
And, my experience has been the opportunity is a much larger determination of success as opposed to intelligence. I try not to assume that I am brighter than someone who has a job that may involve less education than mine. In fact, some of the brightest people I ever met were young offenders in the California Youth Authority who were in jail for drug distribution. Some of them were smart kids, very inquisitive, just lacking the tools and opportunity when they were young.
"Personally, Veda's convinced me that alligators have the right idea. They eat their young."
Boobs, I love that line - and Eve Arden's delivery is perfect. I wonder who'll play that part? Bebe Neuwirth?
And because a deal is a deal, YWiW, what I originally posted was this:
"Are you that hungry for attention, Shira, that you would self-sabotage yourself to that extent?"
Hey Gang!
I have absolutely nothing nice to say about it, so I'm just gonna sit by Tink with a drink. A large one.

Dear God, please make the rain stop. Thanking you in advance, your friend, Moony.
I'll take a drink, too.

MILDRED PIERCE is easily one of my least favorite movies ever made. I spent the entire time wanting to throttle those two women, for different reasons. As to a remake, I would think Julianne Moore would be a better fit - but I still wouldn't see it
I took today off to recover from my family weekend and get ready for what is going to be a nightmare Tuesday - Friday work wise. We have traditional SoCal weather here today. So, ne ner ne ner.
But, just to show I was raised right, take your pick:
