I always knew Tink was a bad ass, I just had no idea how much of she really is. Tink, you are freaking amazing and if nothing else, I thank BWW for introducing me to all of these amazing people.
Shira, the reason we react so strongly is that we do care about you, and we want you to be the best person you can be. Fat or thin, wealthy or poor, compassion and class (in my opinion) always win out. I know you are working through a whole moving truck of issues with your family and with your renaissance. I just want to try and make sure that Shira still survives all of the issues.
If I hadn't just read your Facebook response I'd have almost bought it. I will say this:
When you allow the real Shira to poke through the veneer you've created for yourself, I see a wonderful human being with so much potential. But all too often that person is hidden behind glib responses, attempts at wit and defensive posturing.
And while most us do love you and are happy to help, to rely on us is just not fair. There are professionals out there who can help you much better than we can, and are worth every penny they cost. The problem with that route is that they're going to make you face the truth even more relentlessly than we do. Tough stuff. And tough sh*t. My question and challenge to you is: Are you truly ready to face the truth and move forward? I think you are and I hope you are. Because I want to see more of the Shira that's underneath all the crap.

Shira - I also think you might be surprised by some of the 'stories' of the people you grew up with. Everything isn't always as it appears on the surface.
I know that, YWIW. And I'm truly grateful.
Tink IS freakin' amazing. (And rightfully pissed!).
I thank you for your thoughts, but I am no more amazing than any other person here or anywhere. I was given a situation in life and I dealt with it. Compared to others, my life was and is sunshine and daffodils. Everyone has been given life burdens in some way or another, it is all about how you choose to handle it, who you want yourself to become, and most importantly holding your own self responsible for your actions and thoughts. We are not children. We have free thinking minds that have every right and option to create our own opinions and thoughts. Yes, how you are raised does have an impact on how you perceive things, but as history has taught us, it is completely up to yourself on how you choose to act. I was raised Catholic and in a very conservative family, but I do not choose to live my life judging anyone based on their sexuality or race, etc.
I'll stop rambling now.

The weather is nice today here in Middle America!
Nice diversionary tactic, Brd.
Tink: that was so not rambling - it was succinct, and spot on.

And nicely done, Tink.
Though, to be clear, being raised Catholic does not mean being raised to judge people based on gender, race, orientation, etc.
Moony - you are absolutely correct on that, and I did not mean it to come out generalized. I meant is distinctly to my personal upbringing in the faith, and well, I have plenty of stories that I could tell that just prove I was in a very bad-egg parish and is not representative of the faith as a whole. Took me a while to realize it when I was younger.
Intense day. I think we really do need cocktails.
Dang. Picked a helluva day to visit bww.

Not a fun day on the Adult thread for those in the Middle!
Sometimes the thread lives up its name though.

Exactly, YWIW. I'm all for the exploration of topics in an arena that is safe because of love.
And, as we all know, that doesn't mean 'easy' - just 'safe'.
Fighting a cold ... if I stay home again tomorrow will try to visit with the adults.
How about a hot toddy, DD? I could add some citrus to help that cold.
Wow. I missed the excitement, but I blame it on my lack of education and over working Southern parents.

Popping in to open the windows and air out the room. We'll have yoga classes at 10:00am and meditation at noon. I'll go put on a pot of herbal tea and we can all mellow out.
How much tequila is there in herbal tea?

It's a brand new day . . .
Morning peeps.....this was an email that I came into today...

Hong Kong raises the Travel Alert for Thailand (Bangkok) to Red
In view of the situation that the Thai government has imposed "Internal Security Act" to Bangkok and surrounding areas and the possible large-scale protests and gathering of people in these areas in the next few days, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Government today (March 10) has raised the outbound travel alert (OTA) for Thailand (Bangkok) to Red. Residents intending to visit these areas should adjust their travel plans. Those already there should attend to their safety and avoid protests and large gathering of people.
Security Bureau will continue to closely monitor the situation and issue updates through the media and the OTA webpage

I've been watching that situation escalate, Boobs, and wondering how it will affect upcoming plans.
I am hoping that it is resolved very soon. As long as they DON'T close the airports in Bangkok we should be okay
