haha, it's perfect!!!! :)
Addy, do they have on with boobs?
Morning, folks.
So mail problems once again. I got in and can see messages, but they won't open.

Corned Beef from Harold's today...yay!
I placed my order today for Friday for my St.Joseph's pastry
I just filled out my census form. Damn, that was tough. It took me almost two minutes!

Now St. Joseph's Day is one holiday I can really celebrate - it's all about the bread. I also just like anything - and anyone - Italian.

Holy Irish melons!
LS, I did my census last night. I kept turning the form over thinking I missed something...jeez it was short.
Moony, you know us Italians know how to celebrate any holiday...lots of food! I ordered both St. Joseph's pastries...some with cannoli filling and some with custard filling. I like the custard ones, but how could I not have the cannoli one too?
I love how quickly Amber jumps in there!

She must have signed up for the alerts - she and papa.
Boobs - what I wouldn't give to be at Carlo's on Friday!
Moony, I am sure that Carlo's is going to be a mad house on Friday! I wouldn't even want to be close to it. BTW..did you ever get your mug? Do I need to send Cousin Vinnie over for a "talk" with Buddy?
Not ever having been raised with either Irish or Italian traditions from either parent, may I ask what may be considered a shocking question?
What is St. Joseph's Day?
Boobs!?! Boobs!?! Are you okay! Someone get the smelling salts!!!

GASP! I'm French Canadian and I know about St, Joseph's Day. It's to Italians what St. Patrick's Day is to the Irish. Loaves of bread and baked goods are brought to church to be blessed.
AND THEN WE EAT THEM!!!!! (The bread, not the Italians. Shut up, SOMMS and Q)
All about the day and the carbs

Not that my family ever really celebrated any non-American traditions, at least my heritage did it right - week long drinking fest in october (well September/October). :)
Thank you, Moony. I like that tradition.

I went to an elementary school primarily populated by Irish and Italians. On March 17 there would be an explosion of green and Irish folk songs would play over the PA system. Then on the 19th the Italians would try to outdo the Irish - Italian flags, songs, outlandish costumes and lots of bread and pastries. Big ethnic rivalry that was fun to watch. Not being a fan of the color green, but being a devotee of carbs, it was the beginning of my life-long love affair with all things Italian.

Somehow I was never aware of any of that. St. Patrick's Day was always a day we wore green and exchanged funny little cards, until college when it was a day to skip class and get plastered.
I'm not a fan of green, and I'm part Irish.

I think I hit my head when I passed out from Deet's question! My friend, you can keep your gay card, but I must ask that you hand in your Italian one.
I am wearing orange today because that is what my grandmother told me to do on St. Patrick's day to insult the Irish...I don't think the Irish know that, but I laughed this morning when I put on my orange sweater in memory of grandma.
Actually, Boobs, the Irish flag is green, white and orange. So I'm not insulted. At least the Irish part of me isn't. The Italian part, well, I don't have that part anymore. You took it away from me. I'm half a man without half a country.

The Italians at my grade school liked to do the same thing! There were WORDS out on the playground at recess!
One year Tom delGuidice came to school on the 17th wearing a big piece of green paper taped to his sweater. Our teacher, Mr. Simonetti, just about had a stroke. Then Tom unfolded the rest of the paper - to reveal a big Italian flag. Pandemonium broke out in the classroom. Good times....
Wow, I went to such boring schools!
Deet, I'll give you back your card if you wear orange today in honor of Grandma
Italians are supposed to wear red on St.Jospeh's Day...just a heads up Deet
Moony, I am amazed at your story...I didn't realize they had tape when you were in school.
