If jS and I were to break up, I figure I'll be single the rest of my life. I could not do the dating scene again.
I hope you all stay safe. Irene claims another vacation casualty: the friend we were taking on the lake today decided to head back home early (Boston), hunker the house down for the storm. We're still going on the boat ride, though.

Just finished taping all the windows up and moving everything off the floors at the office. We are in a HEAVY flood area so we are not expecting to be back into the office until Tues or Weds the earliest, even if the storm is just a lot of rain and no wind/etc. Just have to wait until im ready to leave and then unplug all the electronics and move them to safety.
Had to run to local walgreens to get more masking tape and people are nuts. Though they had all their candles on drastic sales so i scooped up a bunch just because I could lol.
yay

Please stay safe, my dear adults. I would send hugs and spare batteries, if I could.

Matt, that's not such a bad idea; you could do far worse.

Posted: 8/27/11 at 10:15amDark and cloudy here in the DC area. Rain expected to start @ 11:00am. Still looking for batteries! I'm all ready to consume the ice cream in the freezer in the event that we lose power. Loading up on protective carbs and fats is important during weather emergencies. I'm fairly certain that's a safety tip from the American Red Cross. Or Ben & Jerry's. Whatever.

By the way - I just want to say what a delight it is to see Mr. Matt on here - welcome, buddy!
And I echo what D2 said re: Namo. The man is gorgeous!

I've got lots and lots of batteries, cuz. What I don't have is a battery powered, backup sump pump system. If the power goes out my basement is under water.

Not currently speaking to the DC relatives, so I will not get any updates from them. I assume Mrs. Brd will hear from her mother.
SOMMS - do you have a hobby that requires lots of batteries?

Good morning!
Leaving this message from home because we will have no internet at work today. Internal servers are back up, Comcast service is not. As hurricane damage goes, that's not bad at all. Hope Boobs and SOMMS finally got power back!

I still can't open my back door. That thing is sealed shut. I'll call the landlord later and see what he says.
I made it in. I couldn't go my usual route since the bridge I need to go over to get out of town has flooding on both sides. That picture of the flooded Wawa I sent you? That's at the bottom of the bridge on my side. Even if I could've gotten over the bridge, there were two other impassable areas I would've come up against. So I had to go the long way around. Hate that, but it could've been worse. If my boss wasn't going to be gone for 2 1/2 weeks starting Wednesday, I would've worked from home. But with me being out last week and him only having two days in the office, I knew we had stuff to sort through before he's gone. Now let's see if HE shows up today!!
And so far, I'm the only one in in my section. Hmm...
