Posted: 8/29/11 at 8:43amMorning peeps! I've been in the office since 6 a.m I didn't sleep much and being the electricity still hasn't come on I figured I was better off here. I Not sure I am going to make it through the day. There's not enough coffee in Columbia to keep me awake.

Sitting at my kitchen table. Work from home day. The office is dry and our equipment is ok but every way to get to my office is beyond underwater. the entire town is under evacuation. This is the worst we are ever going to have seen it. They dont expect it to crest until tomorrow sometime, and it is already as bad as it was in the storm earlier this year.
My apartment are is still ok.

Bluemoooooon...you saw me standing alone...
And you didn't even ask me to dance. What's up with that?
Boobs - Try Columbia's second most popular export. That might work.

Posted: 8/29/11 at 10:26amI hate JCP&L...their recording says all electric will be back on by Sept.4th. Seriously??? Of course you can't talk to a human being.

I have JCP&L as well boobs. they just brought back a bunch of people today that had originally told next week, so fingers crossed.
I have to stay off facebook. A lot of people I am close to are getting hit hard with this flood. ugh. I have no way of getting east. I can go west and visit SOMMS but east is completely cut off (well 80 is open but is a parking lot. 46 is pretty much completely closed.)
As long as mom is ok though I should be ok. And now you know where I get it from - she wouldnt leave her bar until forced too.

Posted: 8/30/11 at 8:33amWe truly are poddies. If it wasn't for the iPad I really would be out of touch. Luckily I have charges in my car for both my phone and iPad. I was sitting in the driveway again last night charging my phone, so at least I had a wake up alarm. How the f*ck did they survive on the prairie?

A whole couple of weeks before... You talked me into it, btw, remember?!
Watta morning!! Since I'm taking the longer route due to flooded areas, I decided to stop at the bakery I pass to bring in a coffee cake for the peeps. Guy walks out, I walk in and order, guy comes back in and asks if that truck is mine. It is, and he tells me I have a screw in my tire. Great. I go to the closest place, it doesn't open until 8. I'm not waiting another 40 or so minutes, so I look on my handy dandy Incredible Droid to see where I can head to next. Want something close, since I don't know how long it'll be before going flat. Get there, wait a bit, tire is able to be plugged, so yay. Then it took me an hour and 10 minutes to get to work.
Very thankful the tire was positioned in such a way that the screw was spotted. One of my worse fears is a flat tire or blowout on the damn highway I commute on.

Girly got screwed!
I just thought I'd beat him to the punch.
Glad all is a-ok with you G.

Posted: 8/30/11 at 12:22pmAm I the only one that finds it odd that the guy was looking at Girly's tire in the first place? I don't even look at my own tires unless the light comes on in the car telling me the pressure is getting low.
#3644The International House of Framily -- In Praise of Good Men
Posted: 8/30/11 at 1:39pmI always try to look at my tires when I get to my car. I'll especially be doing it in the next few weeks once I get on the road.

Posted: 8/30/11 at 1:53pmHeck, I don't have a car. I would have to content myself with glancing at other people's tires.

Hiya Hep!
I glance at them as I'm walking to the car, but I don't usually look at all 4 unless I'm walking up on the passenger side. The guy next door walks out his door and every morning walks around the car and taps on each tire before getting in and driving away.

Hey, Boobs and Girly!
All is well. I woke at 3am with a cold. But, that is a minor thing. I don't have to battle flood waters or things of that nature. Is life returning to normal for our Irene Adults?

"positioned in such a way that the screw was spotted"
I suppose whether that's a good or bad thing depends on being the spotter or the spottee . . .
