We do! Friends are visiting from out of town, and we're having a small thing at my apartment.
That's the perfect plan!
Can you believe it's almost a new year?!
I cannot believe it's almost 2009. So exciting!
I think it's exciting, too.
I have high hopes for the new year!
I am BEAT. Walking around all day in the snow is tiring. But fun!
I know how you feel... I have a bunch of things I should be doing - and even WANT to do - but right now I'm just curled up on my couch with laptop and a cup of tea...
The drive was fine - slow but uneventful except for the bus that went down a residential street and almost plummeted into the freeway (see the "Alternative Forms of Transportation ..." thread for pic.)
Off to dinner w jS and then some Friday night frolicking with friends.

Holy crap, DD! Glad you're okay!
Have a great dinner and frolic for me!
I'm just relaxing this evening. Quite pleasant!
Oh I'm totally fine. That happened this afternoon - the bus driver is from out of town and thought "if I just go down this hill I should be downtown - I can see it right there!" and didn't realize I-5 bisected the street. I did get to see it, it's creepy.
I'd be so freaked out just seeing it.
Anyone wanna fly to Tennessee tomorrow in my place?
Addy, you have the right idea. I could just stay here and do nothin'. I am sipping some ginger coconut rooibos tea and it's the closest thing to heaven one can find in a cup.
Um, think I'll pass on the flight tomorrow. But, thanks.
I'm still just sitting here... although I've been moderately productive in that I've also been catching up on email. But that's about it. More tea. I'm happy.
Life's simple pleasures...
(I just realized I didn't change my avatar to my usual holiday Mary Bailey... I have to go look for her!)
The cows bring more cocoa then skate around
It is the weekend - whoo hoo!
New Yearnds will be a few friends over for a game night and some nice wine. Nothing too exciting, but relaxing.
My week from hell is over, and I got cudos from the COO of my company to the my Boss's boss and the President of my Division - so at least all of the hard word was recognized.
I hope all have a wonderful weekend, full of great joy a laughter!
Glad to hear you got the credit you deserve, YWIW!
Santa just went by on the fire truck!!
After all these years, I still love that they do that. My dad was a volunteer for the station that does it. And the way my house is, with a street behind and no houses, I get to see him twice! My inner child is happy.

The cows wearing their welcome home boobs shirts. Bring cocoa
I know I have posted this before, but my dad was one of the best looking Jewish Santas you could ever find.
When I was young, I was one of his helpers, and we used to go from park to park in my city so kids could see Santa. This picture was taken in the post-YWIW Santa's helper years.
Perhaps it was his twinkling blue eyes, or his genuine love of people, but he made little kids believe!
girly - I totally know what you mean. My whole family is a current or past firefighter, so it has always been a big tradition for us. And then when I was on the dept, I got to ride the fire truck around and it was a weird roll reversal, lol
Did boobs arrive ok?
We are preparing for a massive storm to hit Seattle tonight - they even used the B word in the news last night: blizzard. We are prepared - good food (thankfully I have a gas stove), wine, warm blankets, and the futon is folded out in front of the tv for maximum viewing pleasure. The snow has begun - the wind is not far behind.
Yes, I have heard from good sources that boobs is here in the US safe and sound!!!!!!!

Safe, yes. Sound? That's a judgement call.
Yay, welcome back Boobsala!
