Yes indeed, Q. We natives are preparing to either hunker down or get out of town. They are even making emergency plans for getting hospital personnel to and from work. They may well have to stay put for 48 hours. My daughter works downtown in the Financial District and her office was determined to stay open for business until the announcment came that bridges to VA would be closed and the office was now within the 50 block zone being closed for pedestrian use only. They will now (wisely) close.
I've gone down for 6 inaugurations in my lifetime and they are always exciting, but also extemely crowded, bitterly cold and you can never see anything. Don't even think about standing in line for food or the portable toilets. I've even had tickets to the swearing-in ceremony before and couldn't see a thing (after having to get there 4 hours before the event).
