Actually my favorite 4 Seasons song is "Oh What a Night"
My HS girlfriend and my song was Frankie Valli's "Swearin' to God."
boobs - that song is so deep!

One of my favorites of hers (not one of her best known) is "Do The Walls Come Down"...

The lyrics are incredible!!

What album is that song on NYadgal?
		     			another Carly line...

"hold me in your hands like a bunch of flowers..."

"set me moving to your sweetest song.."
		     			Do the walls come down
When you think of me
Do your eyes grow dim
Do the walls come down
When you think of me
Do you let me in
Do the walls come down

Nothin' like a rainy night
To set your heart rememberin'
Nothin' like a vivid dream
To take you back again

When you think of me
Do your eyes grow dim
Do the walls come down
When you think of me
Do you let me in
Do the walls come down

Somethin' in my pocket
That was written years ago
In faded ink said "You are my fire"
Do you think so

Do the walls come down
When you think of me
Do your eyes grow dim
Do the walls come down
When you think of me
Do you let me in
Do the walls come down

Is it easier for you to say
You never loved me anyway
Or do you hide me in your attic trunk
Like a stowaway

Do you think of me
Do your eyes grow dim
Do the walls come down
When you think of me
Do you let me in

Oh, baby, do the walls come down
Oh, baby, do the walls come down
Do the walls come
Do the walls come
Do the walls come down

Do the walls come
Do the walls come
Do the walls come down
Do the walls come down

When you think of me

I was just thinking of part of one of her more recent songs:

Coming Around Again:

The part that goes

"I know nothing stays the same
But if you're willing to play the game
It's coming around again
So don't mind if I fall apart
There's more room in a broken heart"

That has been a helpful thought at times...

Question, who do you think Carly was singing about in "You're So Vain"?
Warren Beatty is my choice.
Coming Around Again is the album that 'Do The Walls Come Down' is on.

I'd always heard it was Warren Beatty...

And, remember when the Song was auctioned off for charity and Carly agreed to tell the winner who the song was about if they signed an agreement to never reveal the answer...

BB he's my number one choice as well. Do you think she'll ever go fully public with that little trivia bit?
So - this thread has come full circle (for me) - because my very first post was...

Pass the Merits and the Tab and turn on You're So Vain...

and boobs responded that smoking Merits was like smoking air.

I also love the song..."You are the Love of my life" I forget what movie it's from...Marge Simpson (Senior moment with names right now) was in it. Carly wrote and sang all the songs. I always sang this to my 2nd son when he was born. I just confused you guys with that statement didn't I...when we all get together I'll fill you in. Sorry, but needed to explain why that song means so much to me.
I know beacon!! I so want to get him drunk and worm it out of him!! That question has been driving me nuts since .... I don't know when!
...I actually think it wasn't written about any one person...

another Carly tidbit -
When I knew her she lived on Central Park West in apartment 6S in her building. Her daughter, Sally, used to say that their apartment was 'success'

lovely -

You impress me NYadgal how you remember that.
BB Julie Kavner. I remember the movie forget the name. It was about a mom who wanted to go into stand-up.
another great story NYadgal. Keep them coming.
boobs...can't say I expected to hear that from you...but I think it sounds like a beautiful story.

(your post about why that song means so much to you -)

boobs - the reason I remember is because it was the first time that I posted that someone acutally responded...

I had been an infrequent participant on the boards, and this thread drew me in.

I love the song "Big Ass Rock" in The Full Monty where Malcolm sings "I've got a friend like Carole King--or was it Carly Simon--used to sing. I always get those two confused, but anyway..."

James Taylor, too...what a smooth, gentle voice...

Thanks Mom..she's the one. I think the name of the movie was...This Is My Life.
Another sign that we have to meet NYadgal...I was the first to respond to your post...I'm honored.
