Thanks for those DG. I love Bette's Sophie Tucker jokes.
You can always post on my chuckle thread if you'd like. I would never be insulted by that, but thanks for being so considerate. You are such a sweet and intelligent man.

It's always nice to read pleasant things
Speaking of which, I'd like to take this opportunity to say how much I appreciate the attitude of our 'adult' friends here - especially Boobs, Nyadgal, Mominator, Nina, bwaysinger, Undiscovered and Beacon1. Much of the time, discussions on this board can be frought with anxiety or tension - but I find none of that here. I truly believe that is due to the beautiful nature of the participants - some things cannot be faked
DG you are also awesome! Huggs all around!
these are great DG -- thanks
it fiusres -- the past week I have been crazy/busy and now that I have some time to play on the boards, everyone else seems crazy busy.....KMF wants his friends to comeout and PLAY!
Another blast from the past..it should be called..Let's hear it for this thread....
My baby he dont talk sweet
He ain't got much to say
But he loves me, loves me, loves me
I know that he loves me anyway
And maybe he dont dress fine
But i dont really mind
Because every time he pulls me near
I just want to cheer
Lets hear it for the boy
Lets give the boy a hand
Lets hear it for my baby
You know you go to understand
Whoa, maybe he's no romeo
But he's my lovin one-man show
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Let's hear it for the boy
Rusty, Ariel, Irene & Doreen
My baby may not be rich
He's wathcin every dime
But he loves me loves me loves
We always have a real good time
And maybe he sings off key
But thats alright by me
Because what he does he does so well
Makes me wanna yell
Lets hear it for the boy
Lets give the boy a hand
Lets hear it for my baby
You know you go to understand
Maybe hes no romeo
But hes my lovin one man show
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Lets hear it for the boy
Maybe hes no casanova
Still his kisses knock me ov-ah
Hear it for the boy
Lets give the boy a hand
Lets hear it for my baby
You know you gotta understand
Oh, he dont score at bowl-a-rama
Still you gotta thank his mama
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Lets hear it for the boy
Hear it for my man
Let's hear it for my baby

The link for the Sophie jokes is fabulous! I can just hear Bette and her delivery of them. LOL LOL LOL
Crazy busy here today, too. I'll pop back when I get a break.
'til then, a little bit from Bette (and the Andrews Sisters...)
He was a famous trumpet man from out Chicago way
He had a boogie style that no one else could play
He was the top man at his craft
But then his number came up and he was gone with the draft
He's in the army now, blowing reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
They made him blow a bugle for his Uncle Sam
It really brought him down because he could not jam
The captain seemed to understand
Because the next day the cap' went out and drafted a band
And now the company jumps when he plays reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
A-toot, a-toot, a-toot-diddelyada-toot
He blows it eight-to-the-bar, in boogie rhythm
He can't blow a note unless the bass and guitar is playing with him
He makes the company jump when he plays reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
He was our boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
And when he plays boogie woogie bugle he was buzy as a "bzzz" bee
And when he plays he makes the company jump eight-to-the-bar
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
Toot-toot-toot, toot-diddelyada, toot-diddelyada
Toot, toot, he blows it eight-to-the-bar
He can't blow a note if the bass and guitar isn't with him
And the company jumps when he plays reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
He puts the boys asleep with boogie every night
And wakes 'em up the same way in the early bright
They clap their hands and stomp their feet
Because they know how he plays when someone gives him a beat
He really breaks it up when he plays reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
Da-doo-da da-doo-da-da da
Da-doo-da da-doo-da-da da
Da-doo-da da-doo-da-da da
Da-doo-da da-doo-da-da
And the company jumps when he plays reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B!

Here you go Mom.........
I've been working so hard
I'm punching my card
Eight hours for what?
Oh, tell me what I got
I've got this feeling
That times's just holding me down
I'll hit the ceiling or else
I'll tear up this town
Now I gotta cut loose
1-Footloose, kick off the Sunday shoes
Please, Louise, pull me off of my knees
Jack, get Mack, come on before we crack
Lose your blues, everybody cut footloose...
You're playing so cool, obeying every rule
Deep way down in your heart
You're burning yearning for the sun
Somebody to tell you that life ain't passing you by
I'm trying to tell you
It will if you don't even try
You'll get by if you'd only
Cut loose, footloose, kick off the Sunday shoes
Oo-wee Marie shake it, shake it for me
Woah, Milo come on, come on let's go
Lose your blues, everybody cut footloose...
You got to turn me around...and put your
Feet on the ground, gotta take the hold of all
I'm turning loose
10-15 minutes from me; about maybe 30-35 mins for you depending on traffic. Trying to think how you would go from where you're at. It's near Robert Wood Johnson Hospital if that helps you at all.

My car, a 1963 Corvair convertible (alas NOT ME!) had the great pleasure of working in Diner with the adorable Mr. Bacon. I did get to meet him though. Swoon.

All this talk about Kevin makes me think of the thread not too long ago about great acting couples. They may fly a little under the radar, but I really like Kyra and Kevin.
Boobs, the phenomenal and Tony Award winning, State Theater is in the heart of New Brunswick, just off Rt. 18. A very easy drive for you from Rt. 9 Updated On: 8/26/04 at 12:33 PM
My friend Lusia worked with Mr.Bacon on "Stir of Echoes"...she said he is the nicest. Down to Earth kind of guy. She wouldn't give him my phone number though.
LOVE the Sophie jokes!
DGrant - sending the 'compliment' right back at you. I always look forward to reading what you share with us! (And nothing beautiful should ever be faked.... )
Thanks for all the songs, folks... and, oh my gosh, are we really making plans for 2005? Would love to make it to both of those concerts, but I can't wrap my head around it just now...
Nothing interesting to report here. Just trying to eat a salad, make phone calls and play with you guys all at once!
(ps - loved Kevin Bacon on Will & Grace...LOL!)
On the topic of small theater, I just got word that The Moving Parts Theater on West 22nd is producing a show based on the life of someone I love, Edie. For those who don't know, Edie is a well known NYC female impersonator. She has written and will be starring in and choreographing the show entitled "Legs". The NYers that haunt this thread will love this show. Edie is a very 60's persona. I'm very excited about this show finally being produced and will keep you updated.

Nina - is that the Edie that Orion uses as an icon?
Nina, let us all know when the tickets go on sale. We should all go on opening night.
I will look forward to it.
"Nina - is that the Edie that Orion uses as an icon?"
Yes it is. He is a friend and admirer of Edie as I am.
I have had the pleasure of seeing Edie perform in the past. Yes, that is Orion's icon. She recently did a show in Rehoboth Beach, but I wasn't able to go. I am looking forward to Legs. And, Nina, I am still looking for yours.

On the basis of the icon alone I'd want to see her show! It makes me want to gather everone together beforehand for c*cktails and witty reparte' - provided all the ladies wear their finest dresses, and the men dress 'smartly.'
DGrant - Sounds like a wonderful opportunity for you to come to New York. Don't you think you're due for a visit?
I love getting all dressed up! Especially for c*cktails and witty reparte'
