Okay, you're forgiven, Boobs. Can't stay mad at ya for long. For a "go home early" paper clip, I'd be gone in a second, too.
I actually just got home. A co-worker decided to have a "say goodbye to summer" soiree after work for a few of us, and since several of us won't be back to work until after Labor Day (YAY!), she had it tonight. Good time had by all, though I'm sad summer's coming to an end. It feels like it barely got started.
Hope your better soon, Beacon.
A couple of those messages always bring tears to my eyes, Boobs. Thanks for the reminders.

Hey, Undiscovered. Enjoy the painting. I'm off to sing on yet another demo (with all these clips of me floating around, some producer has got to like my voice by now!) and then to work. Ya want fries wid dat?

bwaysinger - circulation is the key! Well, that and how much breath control you have - for singing, of course
I found this funny...so of course I had to share with all of you.
When I was a kid..........
When I was a kid adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning uphill both ways through year 'round blizzards carrying their younger siblings on their backs to their one-room schoolhouse where they maintained a Straight-A average despite their full-time after-school job at the local textile
mill where they worked for 35 cents an hour just to help keep their family from starving to death. I remember promising myself that when I grew up there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it.
Now that I've reached the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and not ice the youth of today. You've got it so damm easy. I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia. And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it. I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet--we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves.
There was no email. We had to actually write somebody a letter--with a pen. And then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the stinkin' mailbox It would take like a week to get there. There were no MP3s or Napsters. You wanted to steal music, you had to go to the damn record store and shop lift it yourself. Or we had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ would usually talk over the begining and f*** it all up. We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting. If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got
a busy signal. We didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either. When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was. It could be your boss, your mom,a collections agent, your drug dealer, you didn't know...You just had to pick it up and take your chances. We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation videogames with high-resolution 3-D graphics. We had the Atari 2600 with games like "Space Invaders" and "Asteroids" and the graphics sucked ass. Your guy was a little square. You had to use your
imagination. There were no multiple levels or screens; it was just one screen forever. You could never win; the game just kept getting harder and faster until you died. Just like, LIFE. When you went to the movie theatre there was no such thing as stadium seating. All the seats were the same height. A tall guy sat in front of you, you were screwed. Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 20 channels and there was no onscreen menu. You had to use a little book called a TV
Guide to find out what was on. And there was no Cartoon Network. You could only get cartoons on Saturday morning. D'ya hear what the f*** I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK, you spoiled little bastards. That's exactly what I'm talking about. You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled, I swear. You guys wouldn't last five minutes back in 1984.
hey guys...what fun did I just have today? Three hours in the music studio playing the dead Loman brother, going back to be a gay butler (typecasting!) and then possibly sing like a girl. What fun. :)
Then I waited on tables...well, a few tables. Work is crap. Seriously, anyone need a personal assistant...I'm good!
Poor little pumpkin. You had a tough day? Come on over this morning and Nina will make you forget all about it.
I need to forget that I had three frappuccinos today..THREE!
Please stop me before I blend again!
May I suggest you use the blender to make a summer drink?
daiquiri, anyone?

Hello all! My stomach is feeling better and I just plowed through 56 e-mails (mostly spam...)
Loved Bboob's post about how good kids have it today... So true.
I remember in the late 80s a friend of mine coming back from buying an album in a record store absolutley flabbergasted. Apparently two young kids were sorting through some records and came across a Beatles album. One asked the other, in amazement: "PauL McCartney had a band BEFORE Wings...?"

hey beacon - glad you're feeling better. I had a nasty bug of some sort last weekend...summer colds are the worst!
speaking of feeling old - I got slammed on Friday on the thread about what shows were playing on Broadway the year you were born. It cracked me up, but right after I posted the 'kid' responded with "first run? wow!"... Good thing I had this thread to run 'home' to!!

I saw that post NYadgal and the response. LOL. If it's any consolation...my Broadway season of birth was the previous year:
Fall 58-Spring 59...
Yes, this is a great "hiding place"...
Is Bboobs out protesting in NYC or laying low tonight?

Hi all...sorry Beacon...I actually finally made it to the movies this afternoon. We went to see "Garden State"..we loved it. I just love Natalie Portman..one of our finest actresses today as far as I'm concerned. She's just a natural. I'm so bummed I missed her on Broadway in "The Diary of Anne Frank".
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
beacon - they're just jealous they missed out on all the good stuff!!
...not sure where everyone is...was out of town this weekend, so didn't get a chance to play.
Have the Closing Ceremonies on - am taping them, too, because I'm sort of half-watching and half-doing a bunch of other things...
I cannot believe it's the last week of August?! We'll have to think of some way to celebrate the 'new season'...(I know, it's not technically a new season, but I still have the school calendar in my blood, and the start of school marks the season!)
NYadgal, you can always come home here when the kiddies make you feel old.

Bboobs--glad to hear your praise for "Garden State". I've been wanting to see it--and I do think Natalie Portman is a splendid actress. Loved her in "Where the Heart Is".
NYadgal--have missed most of the ceremonies myself. My attention span is shot this weekend...
And, yes, it seems like fall is a time of "beginning." In fact, on Friday I was thinking it was time to get my office 2005 Calendar at Office Max and start plugging in my "annual" stuff.
I've not tried tackling a handheld device (Blackberry?) yet for my personal stuff...but everyone is raving about them.

Boobs is always laying, low or otherwise.
Speaking of retreating to this thread, I had to before I get myself into trouble on the other threads.
The year I was born I think the Greek tragedies were in their very first run.
"evening all....hope everyone is fine on this sultry evening...(at least in NYC it is)
Sultry, is that a nice way of saying hot and humid?
You got me Nina, should I just say sticky and gross?
I like sultry much better.
somehow I knew you would Nina...a term for a classy lady!
Although i do like hot and sticky once in a while.
So, where is everyone tonight?

Off to bed...
I tried reading the thread that was harassing Corine (now Chlorine..) and my head hurts. Such drama!
Anyhow...I'm gonna go to bed and fall asleep to a Rozanne re-run on Nick at Night...
Sweet Dreams everyone!
