NYadgal..when I'm done with this sandwich I'll join you for sushi.
Hmm -- lunch...should I stick to the salad/soup or be different today? ** stomach growling**
Wonderful. In that case, welcome. We're happy to have you (listen to me speaking for everyone). This is our special retreat from the kids and annoying wannbes.
Nina, I'll join your chorus...welcome to our new friend!
boobs - how soon can you get here? I'm starving!!
NYadgal....give me 20 minutes. I'll just jump on the subway and I'll be there in a flash.
I'll save you a seat!
In Memory of Laura Branigan...
I could hardly believe it
When I heard the news today
I had to come and get it straight from you
They said you were leavin'
Someone's swept your heart away
From the look upon your face, I see it's true
So tell me all about it, tell me 'bout the
plans you're makin'
Then tell me one thing more before I go
CHORUS:
Tell me how am I suppose to live without you
Now that I've been lovin' you so long
How am I suppose to live without you
How am I suppose to carry on
When all that I've been livin' for is gone
I didn't come here for cryin'
Didn't come here to break down
It's just a dream of mine is coming to an end
And how can I blame you
When I build my world around
The hope that one day we'd be so much
more than friends
And I don't wanna know the price I'm
gonna pay for dreaming
When even now it's more than I can take
CHORUS:
(bridge)
And I don't wanna face the price I'm
gonna pay for dreaming
Now that your dream has come

thanks Nina I hate those Wicked loving Rent retards around here
Now, now, Void, you know you can only hate the devil.
Actually Nina...I'm reading a booked called "I,Lucifer" and I'm seeing the Devil in a whole new light....
Boobs, you are reading my biography! Hope you are enjoying!
That sounds like an interesting book. What does KMF write about himself?
Nina
depending on that answer I reserve the right to say if it was an authorized or unauthorized bio -- I didn't say autobio...that;s part of the devil in me -- I'll make anything work to my advantage!
Nina...here's a review for you on "I'Lucifer"....
From Publishers Weekly
In Paradise Lost, Milton set out to "justifie the wayes of God to men." In this novel, British author Duncan (Hope; Love Remains) attempts to justify the ways of Satan to the hip. God gives his evil subaltern a month in a human body, with an option to own, thus permanently casting off his pain-racked cosmological being. The grim alternative for Lucifer is to subsist in eternal nothingness. The vacant body belongs to Declan Gunn, a writer on the brink of suicide. Lucifer narrates his romps through escort service dates, cocaine-laced nights and, mostly, the thrills of the wondrous human sensorium. Lucifer options his life story-from his starring role with Adam and Eve to his struggles with an autocratic God-to a film producer and torments Declan's lover, Viola, with the promise of a juicy part in the upcoming movie. But for all his jauntiness, Lucifer must unexpectedly wrestle with Gunn's conscience, including Gunn's memories of Penelope, his alternately loathed and longed-for ex. When Lucifer makes the disastrous decision to see Penelope and forgive her for dumping him, he confronts the goodness of mercy, a battle that leaves him sick with nausea and cognitive disorientation. Lucifer tosses wisecracks around as if they were hand grenades. On the wickedness of a rival of Gunn's, he quips, "There's no murder in him, and only a very predictable dribble of lust. His soul, and billions like it, provide the cosmos with its muzak." Alas, Lucifer's wit doesn't often rise to this sharply satiric level: it's more like a series of outtakes from Bedazzled. This is the archetypal promising novel-the author's talent with words eclipses the substance of his story.
That does sound interesting. Anne Rice wrote a =novel years ago that was from the pov of Satan as basically a political exile and someone doing only what he was created to do. Unfortunately, I never finished the book as I have little patience for Rice's drawn out gothic style of writing.
I agree Niona, after Interview and Lestat, I had enough AR for a lifetime (or eternity in the case of these stories)....
That was probably, "Memnoch The Devil", took me forever to get through that book too. I did finish it though. My favorite Anne Rice novel is, "The Witching Hour". The first Anne Rice novel I read was, "Cry To Heaven", about the castrate. Very interesting book.

Cry to Heaven is actually one of my favorite books of any kind. And it is different from her other works.
Although, Nina, perhaps you would enjoy her 'Sleeping Beauty' trilogy written under the name A.N. Roquelaure

Hasn't Anne started writing another series which does not include Vampires. I read something about her making a change in focus...

The last I heard anything about her, she had decided to move out of the Garden District in New Orleans to a gated community in the suburbs because the tourists wouldn't leave her alone - and the 'society' of Nawlins was in a tizzy, seeing as how she is a BIG part of the city culture there. Her son even went home for a bit to try and talk her out of it.
Yes, it was Memnoch, The Devil. I just couldn't get through her very long detailed descriptions of every scene. I realize this is typical Gothic wriring style but, I prefer less description. I like to imagine a scene for myself while reading and have the story move along.
I totally agree with you Nina. I hate reading and it takes 5 pages just to describe what thae character is wearing, what color the sofa is, what color marble is in the bathroom, etc. I usually get disgusted and just flip through those pages until the something interesting happens.
I am procrastinating on a big report I have to finish...will you guys please send me to my room until it's finished? Or take away my computer privileges? I seem to have no discipline today - and I have SO MUCH to do!
By the way, I missed you at lunch, boobs. Sushi was yummy...
Speaking of books, if you want something really light and fluffy (but laugh out loud funny) - I just finished 'Skinny Dip' by Carl Hiaasen.
From Publishers Weekly...
Hiaasen's signature mix of hilariously over-the-top villains, lovable innocents and righteous indignation at what mankind has done to his beloved Florida wilderness is all present in riotous abundance in his latest. It begins with attractive heiress Joey Perrone being tossed overboard from a cruise ship by her larcenous husband, Chaz—not for her money, which she has had the good sense to keep well away from him, but because he fears she is onto his crooked dealings with a ruthless tycoon...
I stopped reading Anne Rice. It got to be too tiresome. I appreciate her place in contemporary literary culture, but I simply stopped enjoying it.
