Well, the 9th could be VERY good for me or very bad. I am hopeful, though! I'll be distraught to the point of tears if I miss this gathering.
SO will Tobey.

I'm hoping to leave here by 1:30. My flight leaves at 5:45...weather permitting. I'm going to PENN station and taking the train directly to Newark airport. Has anyone done this yet? It's such a piece of cake. It's just the best way to get to the airport. You walk off the train and walk upstairs to the tram and it takes you right to your terminal.

oh, Joeyjoe, so many reasons why I'm moving, but the main one is that my apartment here isn't rent-stabilized and our landlords, in their wisdom, saw fit to up the rent a couple hundred bucks. Just couldn't continue living like this for even more money. So, off to cheaper places I go, unfortunately.

I use the rail link all the time Boobs....it's made getting to EWR so much less complicated

oh, Booooobs, I just saw you mention the train to Newark Airport. It's the BEST!
Seriously, I just don't understand why the powers that be in NYC don't realize the SERIOUS amount of money to be made by direct service from Penn Station to JFK And LaGuardia. Really, the millions required to get a direct line out there would be made back in a few years and then you're sitting on a city goldmine...not to mention I now have a serious moral aversion to ever taking a taxi to or from the airports given these ridiculous new rates.

well-- Pataki wants to build the direct link from Kennedy to WTC area -- I agree that it is crazy there is not an easy way to get to LaGuardia....we are one of the only "world class" city with no direct links from the airport into the center of town...very frustrating

That is ridiculous that NY doesn't have a direct train to their airports from PENN. They're just giving more business to Newark.

I'm sure the Taxi mafia has something to do with it as well.
I mean, think about it. $40 for a taxi to LGA or $12 for a train ride.
The only time a taxi is better is when you have a couple of people to go with you.
