MSNBC is just calling it breaking news. No details.
Earhtquakes are usually in central CA (LA, Burbank, etc.)
Southern Cal is San Diego, etc... almost 200 miles away.

Rodney - where exactly did you get those definitions. I live outside LA, and those are new to me.
Wherever the quake was, it wasn't felt where we are.

They are reporting that Parkfield, in central CA - located near the San Adreas fault is at the center.

I wonder if it's tied in to the Mount St. Helen's rumblings?

I have my TV tuned to the news right now - their big concern is that the Scott Peterson trial was disrupted. Big whoop...just lock the asshole up and let's get on with our lives.
DG - I'm glad to hear that you didn't feel it. *deep breath*

KMF, heard on the news this morning that St Helens was rumbling... Parkfield is where seismologists are concentrating all their research... i remember when i was growing up in CA, how we all just shrugged our shoulders and thought, Oh another earthquake, even in 89... Mom's making burgers, looks up and says, Hmmm, earthquake, then we all went outside and talked to the neighbors about it, not knowing how bad it really was...

Remember I told you that I'm playing spades with friends on Friday night??? Well my friend sends directions to his new house and tells me that he lives on Nathan Lane.
