No - I don't remember Old Mother Witch...what was that from??
Okay..I'm jealous of that story.
Amazing that totally rational adults can be reminded of childhood crushes so easily!!
Actually - thanks to my career, I've met most of the 'classic' TV stars...at various advertising functions over the years. I even have a beret autographed by Mary Tyler Moore...small treasures!
I meant to write earlier - I loved "50 First Dates"!!
I'm going to have to watch it again tomorrow thanks to your story!! Yippee!
Did you ever throw the beret up in the air in the middle of the street???
NYadgal, thanks for the heads up about A&E.
A couple songs popped into my head on the way home from work today. It's Too Late - Brother Cornelius and Sister Rose, Vicki Sue Robinson's Turn The Beat Around, Seals and Crofts Summer Breeze and Diamond Girl and this just popped into my head, The DeFranco Family - Heartbeat, It's A Love Beat:
Girl,when I'm alone with you
I get a feelin' through and through
Tellin' me that love is comin' on
My head starts spinnin' round and round
And I don't care what's up or down
Cause deep in my soul, I'm out of control
When I start to hear the sound of
A heartbeat, it's a lovebeat
And a lovebeat is a good vibration
Oh, a heartbeat is a lovebeat
And when we meet , it's a good sensation
Listen to my heart pound
Listen to my love sound
Feel it gettin' stronger
Can't hold back any longer, etc.
and Abra -ca -dabra

They made Lusia very ugly in that movie..she plays Adam Sandlers assistant..love the part when the walrus pukes on her.
Hi bway girl!
No, Bboobs - I never did. I was too afraid to drop it. I have, however, thrown it up in front of the mirror in my bedroom....
Good song memories, bway girl.
Grab some snacks and a pillow and join the pj party.
Levitiations after midnight.
Bboobs - I'm looking for her! Thanks for letting me know!!

Yeah "ditto." Now, that was a high.
As for crank kid calls...in Key West there used to be a bar called "Jungle Bar." My cousin used to call up and say "Hi, this is Jane. Is Tarzan there?"
Or, she'd call to order some food for take out, and she would read over the phone from the take out menu. "Hi! I'd like the charcoal grilled 1/4 quarter pound of fresh ground Angus beef served on a toasted sesamee bun with cool crisp lettuce and the garden fresh tomatoe slices."

Omigosh...
The DeFranco Family...I so remember them!
My all-time fave crush was Donny Osmond...
But I loved all the singing brothers Alan, Wayne,Merrill, Jay--and even Jimmy. Loved Marie, too!

Jose' that's hysterical !!!
I'm very jealous of your David story also. He did sign a Life Magazine with him on the cover from 1971 (that I kept in pristine condition) last year when I saw his concert.

Jose! Welcome to the pajama party!
(I'm taping all of A&E tonight, too...don't want to miss a minute!)
Crank calls were such a part of childhood. Do kids do that now, or do they stay away because of Caller ID??

I remember this really "mean" lady in our neighborhood..you know the one that called you parents ever time she saw you do something wrong..like smoking a cigarette. Anyway...at least once a month she always got about 5 pizzas delivered to her house that she didn't order. Very funny at the time.
beacon's here!
Welcome to the party!
Chinese Fire Drill - probably not since college!!
I had David sign my Partridge Family album. It would probably fetch a fortune on ebay, but I'm keeping it....some things are just too precious to put a price on!...
Broadwayboobs, don't be the first to fall asleep at the pajama party. You know what happens then.

Bboobs - I knew that lady! LOL!
Yep - every neighborhood had one...and she was usually the sad recipient of our pranks. Especially on "Hackers Night" (my towns' name for the night before Halloween...)
Ok - another memory - those childhood Halloween costumes that came in a box - with the hard plastic mask....I wore them for years until I finally begged my Mom to let me make my own!
I'm doing my best bdwaygirl...I've placed many friends hands in water when they fell asleep, painted their nails and lots of shaving cream all over them.
good thing we didn't have video cameras back then!
We called the night before Halloween..."Mischief night"..egg throwing...flour in a sock and beating your friends with them.
Okay..lighting a bag of dog poop on fire and ringing that "mean" lady's door bell and watching her stamp it out.
