That is my favorite Otis song.
It's just so wonderful.

In my youthful fantasies, if I lived on a ranch, I wanted to be Michael Landon's little brother. If I lived in the country hills, John-boy's best friend. And if I lived in the city, I wanted Bill Bixby to be my daddy.

And if I lived in a cave, I wanted to be the go-between for Batman and Robin
Thanks NYadgal!
I love all of Otis' work.
I started loving him after I saw the "Try a Little Tenderness" scene in "Pretty in Pink".
And I've been loving him too long to stop now.
(Again... If anyone knows where I can find a copy of that song WITH the gunshots, let me know.)
My "Walton" crush was Jason... a musican le sigh....
Jason was cute too but John Boy was the one I wanted to take out to the woodshed. I still do. Has anyone seen him lately? Still cute as can be.
Like the rest of us... A little older and a little grayer

Nina, Ann B. Davis was Shultze, indeed. I couldn't remember her name. Thanks for that.
Nina and DGrant, I saw Richard Thomas ("John Boy")twice this week, both times with his family. First having lunch in Whole Foods at Columbus Circle and then a few nights later at THE FROGS. (Sigourney Weaver was there that same night for those who care to know).
John Boy is a bit pudgy around the middle, but who isn't? LOL

Saw colorforms mentioned back a page or two.
LOVED Colorforms and paper dolls.
Etch-a-sketch with the knobs to move the lines and draw the pictures then shake it and start all over.

I was just in a toy store a couple of days ago and saw a complete line of the classic colorforms sets. I could have spent a fortune in this place - tinker toys, lincoln logs, and my all-time favorite, Leggos!
The nuns at my school didn't adopt the modified habit until the mid 70's!

What about those all-in-one drawing pads that had a transparency that stuck to the bottom. It was grey in color and one could draw on it a special stylus that came with the pad. Then to erase the drawing you lifted up the transpency and voila', clean slate.
What in the hell were those called?
Oh! With the little plastic pen things!
I loved those.
And colorforms, too!
Colorforms were so cool. Do any of you remember Magic Sand? It wasn't quite sand but it came in bottles and you could squeeze it out and make free standing castles and mountains. When you were done you just scooped it back up and put it back intothe bottle.
Then there was Sticky Sponge- Just a bunch of colored sponges in neat shapes that you pressed together and make cool looking sculptures.
I think my parents wanted me to go into the Arts!

Mominator - yes to both - and then there was the king of art toys, Playdough. I also 'tumbled' rocks and made jewelry.

I would often just hold Playdough up to my noise.
Anyone else remember the odor?
Talk about a high! LOL

I think playdoh is the most disgusting thing. I know little kids, and some big ones, love it - but its so gross. It just picks up all sorts of hair and dirt and other nasty stuff that little kids have on their hands. I get creeped out just thinking about it. Plus I hate when the colors get mixed ... or hard
Hey Gang..I'm back...long ride home from work. I was listening to an old favorite of mine on the way though. Jane Oliver...I think she works better than Zanax.
Cloth diapers. I helped my Mom change many of those on my baby brother.
A man used to deliver our milk to our front door...yes a Milkman.
We had to take our film to the drugstore to get developed and it could take up to 2 weeks before you'd get them back.
