I know what you mean about the icons and the perception you have about the person who is posting. I was well into this thread before I realized that Bboobs wasn't his icon (so had to adjust the 'voice' I heard for him...). Although - for some of them, I'd like to pretend I'm 'chatting' with the icons...
The show was great! I've seen it a couple of times, but was so excited to bring my friend Mark to see it. (We've been best friends for about 20 years - and he has been living in Paris, but is moving back to NYC and I am SO excited!) He LOVED it - and can't wait to bring his partner when he comes to NY next month. And, every time I see that show I find something new to laugh at...and appreciate more and more about the art of puppetry.
We're on a roll - I took him to see I Am My Own Wife when he was in town a few weeks ago, and we just picked out our Opera subscription. So happy to have my best guy back in the city with me! (My boyfriend doesn't share my passion for theatre. He'll go - but he doesn't 'live' for it.)
Ok - too much information.
Simple answer - Q was great! It did not suck!
BWboobs is a man? Until today, when I asked who the icon was, I thought it might be a self pic. You just shattered my mental image of BWBoobs.
I know how you feel!
...hey, Boobs...where are you? We're talking about you! and, where are those kamikazees you promised.
Ok kids, it's a school night. I'm going to go try to catch the sandman...
See you in the morning. I'll bring coffee.

Nina - no offense taken at all. I have no issues with how people perceive my exterior - it is what it is.
I wouldn't mind his bank account
Besides which, now that you mention it - it does look like him. But a YOUNG him

Now wait a minute, have you ever seen pictures of Tru in his twenties and thirties? He was quite good looking. He also posed for a picture that is very similar to your icon.

Nina - actually I have - and we seem to come from the same 'stock,' as it were. I'm sure he wouldn't have minded having a little bit of my height - I'm 6'2
To TRY and get this even remotely back on topic, did you see him in Murder by Death? So many funny moments, especially from Maggie Smith and David Niven. And I always laugh out loud at nancy Walker doing physical comedy with Alec Guinness
Good morning fellow adults. Sorry I missed all the hoopla about my icon last night..LOL. I was on the puter last night and no one was playing with me, I guess you were all busy so I went to sleep. Sorry NYadgal I finished the Kamikazies waiting for you to get home...daddy was very thirsty last night. You're welcome for the PBS info. Torontoboy was asking so I thought I share with all of you. Lusia is a very funny actress and does have wonderful timing. If you have a chance you should also rent "Stir of Echoes", even though it's a smaller part she has some very funny lines on their way walking to a football game. She is tremendous on stage. She once wrote a 1 woman show and performed in NYC a couple of nights and it was brilliant.
Nina..sorry sweetie to shatter your mental image of me..LOL !!!
DG - love the new icon of you...you are devilishly handsome.
I think I caught up on everything now. Oh yea, Nyadgal..where's the coffee...just keep it coming today...going to see Cyndi Lauper tonight so I need all the caffeine I can get. I wish this site had spell check !!! Sorry if I mispelled(1 S or 2 S's) anything..I know it drives some people insane. Like I always say.."whatever".

Morning Boobs - I think everyone needs a little hoopla in their life! Sorry you got left alone on the playground - I was actually trying to get work done around the house while I monitored the board - that'll teach me to try to have a life AND BWW at the same time Very kind comment on the icon - as Applegate in DAMN YANKEES is one of the very few roles I've ever been interested in playing in a musical, I guess this means I have a shot
I might have to break a pact I made with myself never to watch another Adam Sandler movie and rent 50 FIRST DATES. I DO like Ms. Barrymore, so it wont be a complete sacrifice - and now I really am curious to put some action with these breasts . . . I mean face . . . that I've been looking at.
I've been thinking alot about why it is that we all seem to be so happy to have this little outlet on the board. I've noticed that if you sort of lump people together in general categories (not that everyone fits a mold, or should be defined by limiting parameters) we all seem to have a few things in common besides our general age. For the most part, we've got enough life experience to be able to put things in perspective and give allowances, and yet haven't succombed to bitterness or cynicism. There always seems to be an underlying sense of acceptance of ourselves and each other that is refreshing in here - and frankly, makes me feel a little better about the world we're seeing now. I really think we can all be pretty satisfied with how we act and conduct ourselves - gold stars all around
Beautifully said DG...you get the biggest Gold Star.

Oh Boobs - you make me blush and gleam with pride. But truth be told, I always did get the big stars - is it really such a terrible sin to suck up to a nun?
I had the greatest flashback to seeing the classic Disney live action movies in theatres - The Love Bug and the like. I also remember seeing the animal features (like The Living Desert) on a big screen. I really did like the kids films, and still do. A love affair that started with OZ and never waned. How about The Littlest Prince? I can't claim much objectivity, since I'm a Lerner and Loewe fanatic - but I really did like it! And how can you go wrong with Gene Wilder as a fox, and Bob Fosse as a snake - all under the beautiful guidance of Richard Kiley?
Hello folks and happy Wednesday! Sorry I missed the fun last evening, but I just had to get to the gym. (ICK!)
Love the new picture DG!

Have a great day paople and remember the week end is almost here.
In my Catholic grammar school we used to have assembly and they would show us a Disney film and almost every year we would see Disney's "Follow Me Boys" with Fred MacMurray. I haven't seen it in years now, but saw they were selling it at Costco. Now I have to go back and buy it...just for the memories.

Thanks mominator - I'm glad SOMEONE does all that work-out stuff Didn't they use to call this hump day?
Some favorite films of my youth for various reasons: Disney's Cinderella (the first movie my mom took me to see without the siblings), The Yellow Rolls Royce (I adored the scenery!), Topogigio (yes, it was a movie and just because it was silly), and Gone With the Wind (which I saw for a dollar on 27 consecutive Saturdays.) Topogigio - 'Salright? Sokay!'
My 'yellow' was The Yellow Submarine - which I saw in a theatre as a double feature with Chitty - VERY odd! I guess just because it was animated . . . STILL, very odd.

Disney live-actions were so great then. Sure they were corny and often full of slapstick but it felt good to watch them. C'mon, who didn't love Herbie the Lovebug? Or the AppleDumpling Gang.
I loved going to the drive-in, especially, to see one.
Last night, had a big debate over whether the Jackson Five had a hit called "ABC 1-2-3"...some "child" was saying they'd NEVER heard of it and would try to prove me wrong by googling for the info. I told them fine...and proceed to sing as much of it as I could remember.
Said person has yet to tell me the results of their google search... You guys remember the song, don't you?
It's stuck in my brain like the Osmonds' "One Bad Apple" and
"Yo-Yo"

You're welcome DG!
Did you think for one instant, that I'd use the term "hump day" in this room? LOL
Have fun all!

I believe ABC was the first explosion of Michael into the national consciousness as the lead singer with his brothers. And thank you, I will never get that out of my head for the rest of the day
OMG!! DG, I also saw the double feature of CCBB and Yellow Submarine! It was at the Drive-In. Man I miss those days.

Oops, my mistake. Apparently, I Want You Back was the first Jackson 5 hit - ABC was the second.
Wasn't that weird, mominator? I still liked them both - but I liked Submarine better when I was older - and somewhat more 'prepared' for the event (didn't we discuss double-album covers earlier?)
Boobs!!
Wow - quite a change...
(and it literally happened as I was going from page to page...so I had to rub my eyes for a moment...)
Just dropping off coffee - have to go back and catch up...

Boobs - AHHHH - when women were good at being bad
Hope you all the new look.
Now that this song is stuck in my head here are all the lyrics:
Michael: a buh-buh buh buh-buh
J5: a buh-buh buh buh-buh
Michael: you went to school to learn, girl
Things you never, never knew before...
Jermaine: like I before e except after c...
Michael: and why 2 plus 2 makes four
Now now now, I’m gonna teach you...
J5: teach you, teach you
Michael: all about love, dear...
J5: all about love
Jermaine: sit yourself down, take a seat
All you gotta do is reapeat after me.
Chorus:
J5: abc
Michael: easy as...
J5: 123
Michael: or simple as...
J5: do re mi
Michael: abc, 123, baby, you and me girl!
J5: abc
Michael: easy as...
J5: 123
Michael: or simple as...
J5: do re mi
Michael: abc, 123, baby, you and me!
Tito: come on, let me love you just a little bit!
Jackie: come on, let me love you just a little bit!
Jermaine: I’m a going to teach how to sing it out!
Michael: come on, come one, come on
Let me show you what it’s all about!
Reading, writing and arithmetic
Are the branches of the learning tree
Jermaine: but without the roots of love every day, girl
Michael: your education ain’t complete
T-t-t-teacher’s gonna show you
J5: show you, show you
Michael: how to get an a!
J5: nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah!
Michael: spell me you
J5: add the two!
Jermaine: listen to me baby, that’s all you gotta do!
Repeat chorus
Bridge:
Michael: sit down, girl!
I think I love you!
No!
Get up, girl!
Show me what you can do!
Shake it, shake it, baby, come on now!
Shake it, shake it, baby, ooo oooh!
Shake it shake it, baby, huh!
Abc, baby, oo ooo!
123, baby, nah nah!
Do re mi, baby, huh!
That’s how easy love can be.
J5: abc
Michael: abc, it’s easy
Easy as123
It’s like counting up to 3
Or simple as do re mi
Sing a simple melody
All: that’s how easy love can be!

He really did (does?) have so much talent. What a shame.
Many good memories of dancing to ALL the songs from The Wall and Thriller
