...a bit of catch up...

Bboobs - Cyndi Lauper! Fun!! Girls Just Want To Have Fun was an anthem when I was first out of college and living in the big, bad city...

DGrant - Yes - you do get the gold star for stating so eloquently what I know I have found on this thread.

Mom - this thread has been keeping me from the gym. So, if I start getting fat I'm blaming all of you!! (pass me another scooter pie...)

Sam - Gone With the Wind is simply a classic for all times! It's one of those movies that I always end up watching when I come across it on TV...

beacon1 - it is hard for me to imagine that someone wouldn't know that ABC song...it's even become 'retro' popular.

I miss drive in movies. The 'event' of it all.

DG - yes, we did discuss double album covers...and there were a couple of movies that were more enjoyable if one was 'prepared'...

beacon - I meant to tell you, I was in Blockbuster the other day and saw a DVD of YOURS, MINE & OURS (Henry Fonda, Lucille Ball) for sale in the $9.99 bin - so I grabbed it! I adored that movie!! I will think of you as I am watching.

Cinderella was such a PRETTY movie. Still one of my Disney favorites!

I went to the Michael Jackson tribute/Jackson 5 'reunion' concert at the Garden in 2001 - and it brought back alot of great memories of wonderful songs, original performances and just how bright a star he once was. I loved being able to catch it all again - if just for a night.

And, my niece (who was 9 at the time) had 'discovered' the early Jackson stuff - so I brought her - and we had so much fun sharing something across the generations!

Ah the joys of my youth,

I remember seeing the Beastie Boys open for Madonna during her Like A Virgin Tour and thinking, what a funny bunch of guys, what are they doing on that arena stage?!

But waiting for my Quisp and King Vitamin mail-in promo toys to reach me made life a great adventure!

Another favorite song of mine. Reminds me of being in the car with my Dad going to Palisades Amusement Park:

Reflections Of My Life
by Marmalade

The changing of sunlight to moonlight
Reflections of my life, oh, how they fill my eyes
The greetings of people in trouble
Reflections of my life, oh, how they fill my eyes

All my sorrows, sad tomorrows
Take me back to my own home
All my cryings (all my cryings), feel I'm dying, dying
Take me back to my own home (oh I'm going home)

I'm changing, arranging, I'm changing
I'm changing everything, ah, everything around me

The world is a bad place, a bad place
A terrible place to live, oh, but I don't wanna die

All my sorrows, sad tomorrows
Take me back, to my old home
All my cryings, (all my cryings),feel i'm dying, dying
Take me back to my old home (i'm going home)

All my sorrows, sad towmorrows
Take me back, (take me back) to my old home.....

The Apple Dumpling Gang made me think of The Reluctant Astronaut and The Shakiest Gun in the West. Don Knotts! People always look at me funny when I say he was more than Barney Fife.

Of course, there was also The World's Greatest Athlete. Jan-Michael Vincent running around half-naked. I confess that I bought that video re: can the adults please smoke?

How about "Buster & Billie" with Jan-Michael Vincent swinging from a vine? That's all I remember about that movie.

Don't know that one, Boobs - but the thought of him swinging is intriguing. I used to watch Airwolf, because of him and this pretty little blond sailor - had all sorts of thoughts about that.

What about the movie when Don Knotts becomes a fish? "The Amazing Mr. Limpet"? I think that was the name, just not to sure of the spelling. I'll go google, and come on back and edit.
OK time to edit... The movie was called "The Incredible Mr. Limpet"

The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit, with Dean Jones who as a child I was attracted to. Saw it on a double bill with a Winnie The Pooh cartoon.

The scene where he is saying goodbye to his wife, and she pushes his glasses up, still makes me crack up. (tee hee)

TBoy - Dean Jones - yes! Also, I liked Ken Berry - what was it about those clean-cut song-and-dance men? And then I saw The Barefoot Executive, was introduced to Kurt Russell, and haven't been the same since!

The Incredible Mr Limpet was one of my faves.

What were the first concerts people went to as teenagers? I remember seeing Jefferson Starship, Heart and an early Bowie concert when he still doing the gender f**k look.

My first concert was Billy Joel, on his first big national tour. And I've seen him MANY times since - piano players stick together re: can the adults please smoke?

I went to many "Rock & Roll Revivals" at Madison Square Garden.
Saw Springsteen's "Born in the USA" tour like 5 times at the Meadowlands (Brendan Bryne Arena at the time..now it's called Continental Airlines Arena).
Okay..is it annoying that they keep changing names of arenas and stadiums??? Tonight I'm seeing Cyndi Lauper at the Garden State Arts Center...I refuse to call it PNC Bank whatever.

This board censor is wacked out.

I typed in C-H-A-R-D-O-N-N-A-Y, and the Board deleted the middle six letters as they spell one of my favorite parts of being a man.

Now I know why I opposed the v-chip....

In taht case Zola, the answer would be Boonesfarm Apple Wine. Does anybody remember that horrid swill? We used to smoke pot and drink the apple wine before going to concerts.
