Classic film! It's like a convention of superstars to be. And great direction - when Mr. Lucas actually seemed to notice there were actors present.
Richard Dreyfuss - Goodbye Girl - the Richard III scene is a KILLER!
oh, killer is right! It hurt to watch him...
Marsha Mason - she was a staple of that era.

It was interesting seeing Marsha play Judy's mother in the Judy Garland TV movie a couple of years ago. She was such a b**** - and Marsha was always the sunny, wonderful girl in the early films. She did evil well, though.
She was so closely associated with Neil Simon - for obvious and multiple reasons - that seeing her doing something other than that 'type' of role was always an adjustment.
I was also thinking back to some of the great Newscastors and Anchors...Murrow, Cronkite, etc. - and how their reporting of events is forever associated with the event itself.

Cronkite will always be landing on the moon for me - I was just a little too young to remember the JFK thing.

Definitely spoke to women of the time - in a way that women hadn't been able to before. Interesting to me that Rita mae Brown was emerging at the same time. Kind of had all the women's bases covered
Another great movie soundtrack "American Graffiti"

American Graffiti soundtrack - wore two copies of that album out. Along with the soundtracks to Star Wars and Superman (also Somewhere in Time - but I don't tell too many people that)
American Graffiti was a double album, right?
...I remember when 2001: A Space Odyssey came out. It seemed so futuristic! (And 2001 seemed like a lifetime away...)

NYadgal - yes, American Graffiti was double (yellow with car-hop on the cover.) I loved the 2001 soundtrack - except for the monolith parts - I skipped those - of course, that's when you actually had to get up and move the needle
...sorry, I was just distracted watching my neighbors have sex. Every Wednesday night. At 9. You can set your watch by it. I think I may send them a package with CURTAINS...if I can figure out which apartment number it is...
So - I'm getting set to go to Greece next week to take clients to the Olympics - and have been thinking about great moments in Olympics - both summer and winter.
I know we mentioned Peggy Fleming and Dorothy Hammill -
I also loved some of the early gymnasts. It amazes me what they are able to do with their tight little bodies.
Bart Conner was/is sure a cutie!
omg! nyad! how ickky.
yep - icky is right. I try to remember not to look...
I think I've figured out that the owner of the apartment is the girl and her boyfriend comes to visit on Wednesday... On the other days she likes to clean in her underwear. Can you say "issues"?!
Tonight I needed a bit of comfort food Jello!
Yum
Sadly the news seems to be talking alot about the Munich Games.

We did mention some female skaters, but not two of my favorites (men!) - John Curry and Robin Cousins.
Speaking of Gymnasts - do you remember the Chinese male gymnast who did his rings routine with a broken leg - and still NAILED the landing? Can't remember which one that was in, though.
Other skating: Rodnina and zeitzev (however you spell it) and my faves Torvill and Dean.
I needed comfort food too - so on my way home from the office I stopped at my favorite bakery (Buttercup Bake Shop on 2nd Avenue and 52nd Street) and bought a red velvet cupcake. Delicious! It made me very happy...
I haven't had jello in years. My favorite flavor was orange.
mom - Munich - I'm trying not to think about that. I keep reminding myself that the security is going to be tighter than ever before!

jello - anything red
could you ever understand the whole bit with lime jello and bolgna? I just don't get it.
Ah yes, Munich - I'm sure it will be greatly discussed - and with good reason, I suppose.
DG - I also loved Robin Cousins and John Curry. They always did such entertaining routines (especially when they skated in exhibitions - not competition).
I don't remember the gymnast - I'll have to google in a bit..
Another skating couple that were magical to me were (senior moment) - the husband collapsed and died...she was absolutely darling and their baby was precious.
Sadly yes DG. What a horror that was.
lime jello and bologna??????? YUCK!
Mine was raspberry (the yummiest!)
