Which paper? The Daily Worker? Late 50's, and the 60's I think??? I'd have to ask him.

hmmm - in that time period, it did take a bit of courage not to worry what people might think. I think I would have liked your dad - especially as a teacher.
How cool NY! Williams is such a beautiful campus.
DG we just had a reading of Belle at the homestead.

A little more champagne, please NYadgal - I believe with this post I have become 'legendary' - haha - I've been a legend in my own mind for quite some time

Thank you, NYAdGal, nothing like a glass of bubbly.
This thread is like one's favorite quiet restaurant that serves fabulous food with impeccable hosts and service, a place where you are always valued and welcomed and where you could always get a table but now has now discovered by, well, folks. Who are all these people?
Congratulations on your achievement, DGrant!!
A true Legend you are!
Cheers!!

Actually, Jose', most of these posts are from the same core group - some have peeked in to say a word or two - but most of it is just us yakking away!

DGrant, NYadGal, BroadwayBoobs, and most of all Robbie, who started it all.

DGrant. My dad was a great teacher.
He's 73 and all these years he's always had students contact him, drop by with their own children and grandchildren. He made quite an impact on them. He was senior class advisor umpteen years. He and my Mom were chaperones for the Senior trip. He taught in a different school district than where we lived so we never had him as a teacher but he shared what he knew us. I loved watching historical movies and having him fill in the blanks or correct the errors. :o)
And, he taught me to do the Twist!
He and my mom were great dancers when they were younger and used to dance when they chaperoned our school dances. I was mortified when they did the jitterbug at a "sock hop" themed dance in High School--until I saw all these other students lining up to learn the steps from them.

Jose - What a lovely 'toast' to this wonderful thread!
It's a shame Robbie isn't here to celebrate with us.

Indeed, to the ladies who chat.
And a special toast to Broadwayboobs, who would have been with us tonight...if it weren't for Cyndi! (Boobs - we're thinking of you!!)

Why am I envisioning Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton surrounded by food and laughing their heads off?
Welcome to the legend club, Beacon - it means you're as full of hot air as the rest of us
Oh, and yes to bumper pool - although I still prefer the regular kind.

beacon - congrats to you on your Legend status, as well!
(I started this thread as an Understudy and am now a Star...so I've definitely been one of the ones chatting away...LOL!)
I love the description of your parents!
As DG just wrote - the stories and memories of our parents/families and the roots that we have because of them are a true gift!
Just checked "who's on line" no Robbie (bummer!)
Yes Boobs I hope you're having a grand old time watching Cyndi!

Ok, so much has been covered. How about you're first show album experience?
Mine was an LP studio recording of MY FAIR LADY on one side combined with THE MUSIC MAN on the other. One of those 3rd string recordings with totally unknown vocalists that my mother bought at the supermarket sometime in the late '50s, I think.

LOL
Our surpassing the Eddie Varley thread has been detected. I checked an one of the posters has challenged them to beat the "smoking" thread. I found that so funny. We weren't generating messages to beat anyone...We just have brains filled with a bounty of trivia and memories...
A question that has been bothering me: Did Buffy's doll,Mrs. Beazley, have glasses????
