He flew in and flew out and he's not even Peter Pan.

boobs- cheers to friends...old and new!
Dame - I LOVE the sounds of my records...with the scratches and skips...worn out and well loved.
Story -
About 100 years ago I was a teacher (before I got caught up in the business of advertising...) I taught at a private school in NYC, and Sally Taylor was in my 4th/5th grade class. Her younger brother, Ben, was in 1st grade. Their parents had just divorced...and their mom asked if I would be available to join them during the summer at their home on the Vineyard... Oh, and at the time, the mom, Carly Simon, was dating Al Corely - who was the cute blonde from (senior moment) one of those 80's dramas... In fact, I have pictures of him helping to chaperone my 'Stuart Little field trip' in Central Park.
Just realized that the story I just told has nothing to do with anything...except, I was remembering favorites from that era...and thought I'd share...
It's frightening to me that Sally and Ben are now older than I was when I first met them...
So - this thread. Comfort.

This is my first post to this thread. So, what's everyone talkin' about?
"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."

Matt_G..welcome to the thread, if you want to know what we're talking about, you have to grab a glass of champagne and start at the very beginning...a very good place to start.

I thought about that, but I was just hoping for the abridged version tonight. And I'm not the biggest fan of champagne. I do have a Midori Sour that I'm working on, though.

Enjoy the Midori Sour Matt and just talk about things you remember from your childhood...as long as you weren't born in the 80's or 90's.

Dame - thank you for being kind about a story that had no beginning and no end...and was not much more than a random memory!
ah, The Sound of Music. One of my Favorite Things.
...You are 16 - going on 17...I wanted a gazebo to dance around in more than anything....

NYadgal..I played Rolf in the Sound of Music when I was 17 going on 18. Funny for a dark haired olived skin Italian to play a German.

Yes, it's true. I just can't stomach that musical. I just want her to fall off that mountain.

No.
Don't sing Sound of Music right now. It's bad for my health.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

As a young Jewish kid, I was too busy watching my dads copy of Barbra Live in Central Park.

Funny true story Dame...our Mother Superior was played by a Jewish woman and during a rehearsal she was blessing Maria and a priest walked in and told the director to tell Mother Superior that we make the sign of the cross with our right hand...very funny, but she just happened to be lefty.
