Would kill to be there, but alas I am unable to attend.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Pop you'll be sitting on my lap that night singing along too.

re: Carole King

She's been around along time. Okay..here's my Carole King story. 3 woman from my neighborhood where I grew up had a little group back in the 60's..they were known as the Carmelettes (name taken from our parish Church...Our Lady of Mt.Carmel). Anyway...Neil Sedaka had asked them to do back up on a song he wrote for Carole King called "Oh Carol"....my friends Mom does the high part on the song...well, Carole decided to do a response back called "Oh Neil" which the girls did back up for her. She liked the girls so much and wanted them to always do back up for her and would be called "Carole King and her Kittens". The girls bowed out gracefully because they wanted to settle down and have families...they never knew she would make it so big. They say they have no regrets.

I still love listening to "Oh Carol" and hearing Angela's voice...what's funny is is that her daughter (my friend Susan) loves to perform and you never know when she'll pop up doing something in the City..her solo performance was loads of fun.

I felt the earth move under my feet calling me to this thread, Boobs. (You knew it wasn't TOO LATE BABY to get my attention, now did you?) I was excited to read that Carole had so much fun on her "Living Room" tour last year that she is going to reprise it again this summer. I LOVED her show at Chastain Park last year and have already ordered my tickets for this year's show at Chastain. She is so much fun to see outdoors under the stars while sipping a glass (bottle?) of wine. I believe she'll be here a week after you and Addy see her at Radio City. Fun times to come!

Outdoors would be a wonderful way to enjoy a Carole King concert!

I can't even remember a time when she wasn't in my 'life'. I still have my well-worn Tapestry piano sheet music. It's held together with layers of tape from YEARS and YEARS of play...

Hi Addy!

Outdoors is a wonderful way to experience a Carole King concert. There is a whole slate of concerts from all musical genres on the docket for Chastain this summer. A night at Chastain is the quintessential Atlanta evening in the summertime. If you get back to Atlanta..hmmmm..... :)

hmmmmm....

I'll go check the concert schedule and see what kind of a meeting I can come up with to coincide!

re: Carole King

too many songs to choose from, but this was always one of my faves:

You´ve got to get up every morning with a smaile on you´re face
And show the world all the love in your heart
Then people gonna treat you better
You´re gonna find, yes you will
That you´re beautiful as you feel.

Waiting at the station with a workday wind a-blowing
I´ve got noting to do but watch the passers-by
Mirrored in their faces I see frustration growing
And they don´t see it showing, why do I?

You´ve got to get up every morning with a smaile on you´re face
And show the world all the love in you´re heart
Then people gonna treat you better
You´re gonna find, yes you will
That you´re beautiful as you feel.

I have often asked myself the reason for the sadness
In a world where tears are just a lullabye
If there´s any answer, maybe love can end the madness
Maybe not, oh but we can only try.

You´ve got to get up every morning with a smaile on you´re face
And show the world all the love in you´re heart
Then people gonna treat you better
You´re gonna find, yes you will
That you´re beautiful as you feel.

re: Carole King

When you're down and troubled
And you need some loving care
And nothing, nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend

If the sky above you
Grows dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together
And call my name out loud
Soon you'll hear me knocking at your door

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there

Ain't it good to know that you've got a friend
When people can be so cold
They'll hurt you, and desert you
And take your soul if you let them
Oh, but don't you let them

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend

Who wants to let me in on the secret of the presale code? The concert happens to be on my wedding anniversary. Seems like a perfect way to celebrate.

re: Carole King

Wish, wish, wish I could go to this concert! I played my sister's Tapestry record over and over and memorized the songs as if they were from Broadway musicals!

This was always my favorite--even as an adolescent I was a drama queen--I would alternate lip-synching to this with "So Long, Dearie":

Stayed in bed all morning just to pass the time.
There's something wrong here--
There can BE no denying!
One of us is changing,
Or maybe we've just stopped trying...

And it's too late, baby, now it's too late,
Though we really did try to make it.
Something inside has died
And I can't hide
And I just can't fake it.

It used to be so easy living here with you.
You were light and breezy,
And I knew just what to do!
Now you look so unhappy,
And I feel like a fool...

And it's too late baby, now it's too late,
Though we really did try to make it.
Something inside has died
And I can't hide
And I just can't fake it.

There'll be good times again for me and you,
But we just can't stay together--
Don't you feel it too?
Still I'm glad for what we had,
And how I once loved you...

And it's too late baby, now it's too late,
Though we really did try to make it.
Something inside has died
And I can't hide
And I just can't fake it.

Tapestry has been on my ipod for almost a year.
Very cozy with her friends: No Secrets, Clouds and The Hissing of Summer Lawns.
