Jungle, you are killing me!

King and Buble? The same week? Are you going? I'll enjoy it vicariously...

beacon, I was, too! I had the music for piano and guitar - and learned both. I so wanted to be Carole King...

I still have that music. It's well worn... I need to tune my guitar and see what I can remember of it!

The local rock group down the street
Is trying hard to learn their song
Seranade the weekend squire, who just came out to mow his lawn

Another pleasant valley sunday
Charcoal burning everywhere
Rows of houses that are all the same
And no one seems to care

See mrs. gray she’s proud today because her roses are in bloom
Mr. green he’s so serene, he’s got a t.v. in every room

Another pleasant valley sunday
Here in status symbol land
Mothers complain about how hard life is
And the kids just don’t understand

Creature comfort goals
They only numb my soul and make it hard for me to see
My thoughts all seem to stray, to places far away
I need a change of scenery

Ta ta ta...

re: Carole King

When this old world starts getting me down
And people are just too much for me to face
I climb way up to the top of the stairs
And all my cares just drift right into space
On the roof, it's peaceful as can be
And there the world below can't bother me
Let me tell you now

When I come home feelin' tired and beat
I go up where the air is fresh and sweet (up on the roof)
I get away from the hustling crowd
And all that rat-race noise down in the street (up on the roof)
On the roof, the only place I know
Where you just have to wish to make it so
Let's go up on the roof (up on the roof)

brief instrumental-chiefly strings

At night the stars put on a show for free
And, darling, you can share it all with me

I keep a-tellin' you

Right smack dab in the middle of town
I've found a paradise that's trouble proof (up on the roof)
And if this world starts getting you down
There's room enough for two
Up on the roof (up on the roof)
Up on the roo-oo-oof (up on the roof)
Oh, come on, baby (up on the roof)
Oh, come on, honey (up on the roof)

re: Carole King

Hi Kids,

I just wanted to let everyone know that Carole was terrific in concert last night at Atlanta's Chastain Park. Despite, the intermittent showers, Carole had the crowd eating out of the palm of her hand. With her Mom onstage in a couch for her "Living Room" tour, Carole took the audience through a tour of her hits from the 1960s - present. My favorites included "It's Too Late", "I Feel the Earth Move", "Sweet Seasons", "So Far Away" (dedicated to the US Troops overseas), a medley of early hits written by Carole and her ex-husband Gerry Goffin ("One Fine Day", "Go Away Little Girl", "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" amongst others), and, of course, "You've Got a Friend". Carole seemed to be thrilled that her new Live CD debuted at #17 on the charts last week. Not bad for a 63 year old veteran singer-songwriter!
