Future pageants sponsored by Trump may not get the gay audience after all of this.Wonder if any gay rights groups are contacting the pageant sponsors?Donald Trump needs to be reminded that his decision could cost him a lot of viewers and support.Of course, I think it would be a wonderful sign if the California Supreme Court announced this week they were overturning Prop 8 and gay marriage was now legal once again in the state. Wouldn't that be just beautiful?

Trump also explained the wall Carrie put up with Miss California's officials as a "miscommunication" -- that, for the record, is BS.

Seems like Trump only gives second chances to beauty queens. He threw Khloe Kardashian under the bus because she had had a DUI and it had nothing to do with her task at hand. I guess he has "selective forgiveness". Obviously this was about business and I found it funny that he wouldn't even answer the same question that Prejean got in the Miss USA pageant. I heard one of the judges say on HLN today that there are more photos and videos still to come- can't wait!

Trump loves the free publicity, as does Maggie Gallagher. This like a media wet-dream for them both.

At this point, if they took her crown away she would be a martyr for the cause, facts be dammed. It would make her an even bigger celebrity for the next 10 minutes.

If there are more pictures, what the hell are they waiting for? Releasing them before today's final decision would have been wise.Even if more pictures do surface now,Trump won't go back on his word. I will be really pissed if someone decides NOW to release more pictures.

The only thing this situation has shown is that there's no one in a leadership position to put things in context, and get the discussion on the right path.

It should never have been allowed to fall into the discussion of freedom of expression.

That is indeed optimistic, brd.

I think you underestimate the level to which this has ignited the divide - and no one is present to bridge the gap. The 'uniter' was a facade, which is made more apparent with each passing moment.

You talk about jurists moving forward - they're going to find that difficult in states which are having legislatures drawing up plans for secession.

I think the time is now - but the time is indicating a civil unrest that will rival the worst we've seen. People are having their core foundations rocked, and will NOT go quietly into any good night. On either side.

Don't be naive about it, brd. It belittles the struggle. Someday is a very long way away:

* 29 states have constitutional amendments explicitly barring the recognition of same-sex marriage

* 14 states have legal statutes that define "marriage" as a union of two persons of the opposite sex

That may be - but I think you're overly optimistic about the 'soon' aspect, and the struggle that it will entail.

I think we've just really begun to address the core - and it's an uphill battle from here.

I saw the Hannity interview last night and it was pathetic. Hannity was practically drooling over her! The more I see her in interviews, the more I loathe this opportunistic woman! She keeps making herself a martyr and FOX is helping her. She keeps talking about how she was punished by her answer- what? The only person being punished is the actual winner. This will be one of the first years that I will not be rooting for Miss USA to win Miss Universe!
