^^^Brilliant
I was stuck next to a blabber mouth on a train once. He went on and on about his plans that week, telling whoever was on the other end all about his rental car, his hotel and the reservations he made at a fancy restaurant...
After he got off the train, I called the rental car company, the hotel and the restaurant and canceled all of his reservations.

No, No, a thousand times No! We lived for thousands of years without them, so we can certainly live without them on a flight.
If, however it does become law, and someone next to, or even near me intrudes into my space in that manner...I will start singing...badly!

I've read something along the lines of airlines planning to have booths where passengers can make phone calls... If that were the case, I see know problem with the idea, as long as the flight attendants enforced the policy that phone calls cannot be made anywhere else. Otherwise it sounds like a disaster!
But bobs3's idea of joining in the conversation is the best I've heard yet! I plan on putting that into practice sometime soon!

Posted: 12/13/13 at 11:14pmI flew out of Washington National Airport earlier tonight and was so relieved when the flight attendant instructed all passengers to turn off the cellies and to set other mobile devices to "airplane mode". Before that I had to listen to a Wall Street type go on and on about a deal that went south in NYC earlier today and to a passenger bound for El Salvador giving his mom back home an update on his kids. The friggin plane was an American Eagle which is about the size of my broom closet.

APPARENTLY, the phones will be usable for texting and emails but not calls...

This is what I'd do to someone on the phone next to me on a plane.
