For over 20 years I have been addicted to ChapStick and nearly have a panic attack when I cannot find my tube. Today, I left the house without my beloved ChapStick and must now go to the store for a tube.
Anyone else addicted???

I just posted this yesterday in the myths thread....
I used to scoff at the "Chapstick puts a chemical in their lip balms to actually dry out your lips and make you want more" rumor.
I don't now.
I started using Chapstick last Winter, when I had a cold. Last week, someone at work told me I was in denial and was addicted to Chapstick. Why, you ask? Because I own over 25 different tubes of chapstick and have a stick in every room, location, bag, meeting room, etc that I ever enter! I was constantly reapplying throughout the day, and I never used the stuff before the cold I had! I was sent to a website devoted to the Chapstick evil and I was shocked at what I found out.
I am now in Day 4 of my chapstick sobriety. It was hard at first; my lips were dry and craving the sweet stuff over the weekend. But I am happy to say that I have officially kicked the chapstick habit.
The web page that changed my life....as of last Thursday.

I was...
But I have switched from a petroleum-based lip balm to a wax or oil-based one. It seems less addictive and I use less, though it is more expensive--not much more, like $2-3 a stick. Any health store will carry several brands...I'm using alba, though burt's bees is good stuff too. Try it!

I like the medicated Chap Siick (the stuff in the blue tube)
or Blistex DCT (the stuff in the little orange tins)

Posted: 7/26/05 at 3:01pmI'm sure your wife is happy about that. I hate when my lips get chapped....I usually have some kind of lip balm on me...I like the Body Shop ones too.

Posted: 7/26/05 at 3:17pmI use beeswax on my lips in the morning after I get out of the shower, and I don't have to think about dry lips after that... you should all invest in a jar.

I'm obsessed with Burt's Bees (its bees wax chapstick)... it's WONDERFUL. I go crazy without it.
I recently discovered a colored kind--- I was so overjoyed! Lipstick + Burts Bees... I could ask for nothing more!

I'm totally addicted to Kiehls lip balm.

Posted: 7/26/05 at 3:27pmOh my gosh, I have the worst chapstick/lip balm/lip gloss addiction EVER. I start getting really cranky when I don't have it with me, and I start twitching if my lips start to get dry or chapped. It's gotten really bad in the last few months.

Posted: 7/26/05 at 3:34pmI'm addicted to The Body Shop's lip balms. I use the hemp and citrus all the time. They're amazing!

Posted: 7/26/05 at 3:40pmI find for me, Kiehls works most efficiently. In mid-winter, I can put it on burning lips and within seconds, literally, my lips are back to normal. I've tried EVERY possibly lip balm, including the outrageously expensive Sugar Lip Balm by Fresh ($25!!!) and Kiehls is most results-oriented for me.

Reading some of these posts maybe they should hire some of us to be a spokesman.

Posted: 7/26/05 at 3:45pmReally Love4? I had a bad experience at Kiehl's and have never returned. I did go to Fresh to get theirs, but you have got to be kiddin! I was like, "no thanks"--nobody is worth that much on lip balm, not even Vin Diesel....wow did i just say that?

Similiar addiction, but to Blistex. I'm the same way in that I panic if its not within reach. I'm looking at it sitting on my desk right now.
The worst side-effect of Blistex addiction is forgetting a tube (since I always have at least two) in your clothes when you wash and dry them. I've ruined MANY clothes this way.
