This just in, Chenoweth and Menzel will join previously announced Jeff Bridges in the new musical adaptation of MILLION DOLLAR BABY. With original music by Hilary Duff and lyrics by Liza Minnelli, BABY is set to open at the Henry Miller Theatre in Spring of 2007. Trevor Nunn with direct, with choreography by Agnes DeMille. Chenoweth will play the role made famous by Morgan Freeman, who also won an Oscar for his portrayal of a mysterious black man who's part is brutally underwritten. Menzel will take on Swank's role, and Jeff Bridges will play Clint's role. Rehearsals are set to begin in August at the new 42nd Street Studios. David Rockwell will be designing the scenery, and Billy Crystal will produce.

I could've sworn Ashlee Simpson helped in the process of making this show....

And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

I imagine you're taking an unholy joy in the number of fangirls that have surely soiled themselves upon viewing the title of this thread.

'Cause I am.

You're absolutely correct - she was approached by Clint Eastwood at the Grammy's, and he asked her to musicalize the show. She wrote a few songs, but after she couldn't perform them for backers because of here extreme cocaine use from the night before, no one wanted to produce the show. Afraid that her drug habits would get in the way of the film, Clint then asked Jerry Herman. Jerry Herman agreed that he's not smart enough to write such a score, and suggested Sondheim. Sondheim immediately turned it down, saying that he's busy musicalizing SCHINDLER'S LIST, and he's very bogged down. However, Duff was Sondheim's reccomendation - and she agreed to do it.

Oh, I heard about this. Aren't the costumes by Bjork? I think Cheno would look fabulous in a swan outfit.

Insomniak: You are incorrect. While Bjork was Menzel's choice for the costumer, Trevor Nunn has chosen Sean P. Diddy Combs to costume the cast entirely in his Sean John line.

Broadway Style: You'd be surprised. While Duff isn't the best singer, her talent as a young composer is alarming.

So far I have heard one of the songs, the closing of act one. It is really riviting - it is called "Will He Train Me Or Not." Brilliant.

There will be a nude scene as well, featuring Menzel. As of now she feels very iffy about the whole thing, but it will be done very tastefully.

You know, I was so sad. On set yesterday, Idina didn't get her own chair. I mean, isn't she the BIGGEST STAR EVER?! I was so angry! re: Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel to reunite on stage

I know why that is, but I can't say on this board. She'll be very angry with me if I tell all of BWW why Idina didn't get her own chair.

He doesn't have much to say...although he is opposed to the nude scene, he doesn't want to get on Nunn's bad side because he's hoping that via his marriage to Menzel, he will get a role in the show he otherwise wouldn't have gotten. So for now, he will keep his mouth shut in hopes that he'll will fill in for the ailing Chenoweth.

Now, Munk...I heard that Taye was supposed to play Clint's part and that there was some underlying romantic theme written in. What happened? Why the drop out?
