Posted: 3/11/05 at 7:18pmIdina originally did want Taye to play Clint's role. However, with much deliberation, Nunn deemed it impossible. Taye is far too young to play an elderly man, plus he's too queer to be a boxing coach. There is no romantic theme...keep in mind that Chenoweth is playing a black man. Making Clint's role a black man would negate and racial tension that would otherwise be present.

I read in an interview that it's taking longer than expected to complete the score ever since Duff filed a restraining order against Minelli. Could you elaborate as to what caused this? Rumor's going around that there was some physical abuse. Any truth to that?

It really is alarming. My friend Marshall just called me (he is assisting Trevor Nunn) with some more breaking news. The role of Maggie's mother, played by Margo Martindale in the film, will not be played by the same actress onstage. Although Margo was a favorite of Nunn and P. Diddy, she was unwilling to break her previous engagements - she is currently in rehearsals for a new play about the creator and inventor of paper. So naturally, she can't do the role. So who will take on the role of the mother, you ask? Yup, you guessed it. Sally Struthers.
Hannah: Yes, Chenoweth will be not only in blackface, but she will have a brown body suit on so she doesn't have to paint her arms. Great point.

While out at a club two weeks ago, Duff apparantly attacked Minnelli, threatening to kill her if she didn't give her her share of the crystal meth that she had already paid for. Already being very drunk, Liza was obviously and understandably confused. At this point, Liza was pinned to the ground by Duff. She didn't know what to do, so she reached into her bra and pulled out a full bottle of Jack Daniel's, and smashed it over Duff's head. That's where the restraining order has come from....it is unclear whether they are willing to work together, but Duff is still composing. There is a rumor going around that Minnelli will be replaced by Carol Bayer Sager.

Yes, gal, I did see OLDEST LIVING CONFEDERATE WIDOW. Unfortunately, there are no plans for a musical revival.
