And, parking sucks! Ah, Chicago in January!

Yup, yup. Both of my parents and brother who live in the 'burbs called me tonight to inform me that it's going to be terrible in Chicago tomorrow. As if I couldn't figure that out by looking out my windows in the morning.

Brant Miller just said the low tonight: -10!!!!
My son is praying for a "cold" day tomorrow off school! He is waking up at 6:30 and will go to wgn.com. He wants to find out himself!
The high tomorrow is NEGATIVE ONE. And that's not even including windchill!
I'm from North Carolina! My body isn't prepared for this type of cold!
I'm surprised and at the same time not at all surprised that classes haven't been cancelled for tomorrow...it's too cold, even if I do only have to walk 3-ish blocks to class! Oh and my hands are freezing, I slept with mittens on last night because the radiator in my room doesn't work properly lol
Housing people keep coming to all the rooms and checking that we're keeping the water running because otherxise the pipes will freeze. Yay winter.

oh wow--that's crazy! The low here is supposed to be 5 tomorrow. I feel much worse for you guys! Stay warm.
One of the guys at work was supposed to fly into Chicago yesterday. For some reason his plane was delayed a few hours so he just cancelled and returned to the office, grumbling about missing his meeting today. I told him to thank his blessings. Someone was looking out for him!
Did you see this morning's Red Eye pun? "Frost Bitchin'". Ha.

And Chicago is usually more temperate due to the "Lake effect." Out here on the plains, it was officially -14 when I left for work but my home thermometer was registering -19.
We got school called off today. I'm 2 1/2 hours out Chicago on a good day. It has to be -30 with wind chill in Winnebago county, and it was like -35 with wind.

Today's snow in NYC is all over, and it's brilliantly sunny now. I'm a little disappointed; I really love snow.
Can't I come visit one of you guys?

Phyllis, I love Chicago's April snows, so charming!
SKB, I used to have a ton of cases in Rockford, nice town.

blame global warming, phyllis. i do.
If it weren't so freaking cold, it would be BEAUTIFUL outside: not a cloud in the sky that I can see.

Reg, I love snow too. I thought I was the only one. You should come out here so we can sit with hot cocoa and bask in the the glistening wonder of it all.
I could do without the subzero temps, though. I haven't been outside yet, but I can tell already that today is going to be one of those days where your nose hair freezes. I hate that.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who says that mauriposa.

My office is FREEZING cold- the old heater here is running non-stop.
My breath froze on my scarf on my 7 minute walk to class today. COLD!!
My apartment is freezing.
I don't think I'm even going to leave my house today. And if I do, I'm warming up my car for at least 10 minutes.

I would warm the car at least 15 minutes.
I do like the way sream from building dances slowly in the wind at this temp.

Ha ha, you're lucky you don't live in Canada, then. We sometimes have HIGHS of -25 !
and I was complaining on Monday as it was near 80 degrees here, unseasonably hot for January.....
