As a social worker who recently had to detain a 2 month old put in this situation, my advice is to get a babysitter if you are planning to get sh*tfaced.

Plus, here in the States, we cater to kids (and the people who create them) on such a ridiculous level that it's not really such an inconvenience to ask that they don't come to a bar.

Well...generally only in gay bars. But it's been known to happen in straight bars as well. :)
